Suspected Maoists abducted three persons, including a station master, from the Naxalite-infested Jamui district of Bihar on Wednesday.
Railway officials said that the armed Maoists took away a total of 19 persons while they were engaged in the repair of railway tracks near Ghorparan station between Jasidih and Simultala stations. Later, they set 16 of them free in a forest.
However, three railway employees -- Ghorparan station master Vijay Kumar, along with two porters, Munna Kumar and Dukhan Mahato -- remain captive to the Maoists. District police officials said that efforts were on to rescue them. Senior officials were camping in the area to oversee the joint combing operation launched by the state police and the para-military forces.
