BATTERY-OPERATED CARS & RLY. PORTERS Sir, We are senior citizens. The moment we alight from the train at Mysore Station the porters gherao us and stick around to carry our luggage in spite of our telling them a categorical NO. They know well that we are looking for battery-operated car. The battery car drivers are forced by the Mysore Railway porters not to allow suit cases and sling bags in the cars. As a result, the senior citizens have to hand over the luggage even if they bring only one suit case or sling bag to the porters. Often the sling bags have only zip and the porters can play any mischief as... Read more...
they are not lockable. Also there are no Railway officials present at the time of our luggage being forcibly taken by the porter (s). This is a serious issue. The porters who are hand-in-glove with the battery-operated car should be severely warned against such practice. Moreover, battery car drivers do not drive the cars early in the morning. In such cases, what will the old and handicapped travellers, who arrive or leave by early morning trains, do? The battery car drivers sit idle often times with the standard excuse that the battery is down. We suggest that there be facilities for making oral enquiries at the Railway enquiry counter. —Raghavans Vontikkopal 4.7.2012 NEED MORE DIRECT TRAINS BETWEEN CH.NAGAR-B'LORE Sir, I applaud the introduction of additional (6th) train between Mysore and Chamarajanagar leaving Mysore at 14.45 hrs and on return journey, leaving Chamarajanagar at 18.30 hrs. There is also a need to extend few more trains to Chamarajanagar, especially the Cauvery and Tippu. It helps aged and family people avoid changing trains at Mysore Station. An early morning train from Nanjangud to Mysore is also needed to connect for Chamundi Express bound for Bangalore. I request SWR to explore the possibility in this regard. —N.Varadarajan Vivekanandanagar 7.7.2012 BUS STOP NEAR NEW RLY. GATE Sir, This is in response to Giridhar's request for a bus stop near the new west Railway Gate. I would like to inform that already a bus stop exists near vv water Works since many years but KSRTC has stopped providing the facility due to less passengers willing to get down at this point. Some of the buses plying on this route still provide a recorded announcement that the next stop is vv water Works but the bus never stops here. As Railways have opened the new gate, the KSRTC authorities have to think over and provide at least a request stop to those who alight near the Gate. —M.C. Sujit Mysore 6.7.2012
