The India Tourism Ministry in conjunction with Indian Railways launched a ‘Clean India’ campaign aimed at keeping trains and stations across the country clean and tourist-friendly.
India’s Ministry of Tourism Subodh Kant Sahai said the campaign will help in effectively branding India as a major tourist destination with Railways a major driver for development of tourism.
India Railways have identified 24 stations that will be the focus of the ‘Clean India Campaign’ in order to make them tourist and hygine-friendly according to the Economic Times.
Union Minister of Railways Mukul Roy said the steps to improvement include Green Toilets, clean train stations, rag picking contracts, washable aprons on platforms, mechanized cleaning on the stations and on-board service schemes.

In addition to these stations some long-distance trains would also carry the 'Clean India' message to create awareness about cleanliness.
Mr Sahai said the collaboration of the Ministry of Railway and Ministry of Tourism to work together towards the common objective will help in branding India as a major tourist destination.
