In a bid to make train travelling across the state safer, the Railway police have launched an initiative called ‘Subhayathra Mangalam’. From now on, the passengers will not have to wait for the train to reach a station for lodging a complaint as they can do it during the journey itself. The launch of the new initiative will be implemented in all trains operating in the state, said the Railway Police Superintendent. “If any untoward incident takes place in a running train, the passenger can lodge a complaint with the police beat officer on duty on the train. The beat officer would register the complaint and if required, an FIR, and a case will be registered. The copy of the registered complaint would... Read more...
be handed over to the passenger right away. The facility would be available both in Passenger and Express trains,” said a Railway police official. Once the train reaches the destination, further procedures for conducting the investigation would be carried out. The complainant can keep track of the development of the probe by calling up the official with whom the complaint was lodged. One of the major advantages of the new system is that passengers would not be disrupted. “Until now, the passengers have been reluctant to lodge a complaint fearing loss of time. The new system would enable them to report each and every unsavoury incident taking place while travelling on a train,” said a Railway Police official.
