The rail overbridge being built at an estimated cost of Rs. 26.25 crore across the railway-crossing on Vriddhachalam-Thozhudur road will be completed soon, according to Collector Rajendra Ratnoo. He inspected the site on Thursday.A statement from the Collectorate said that since sugar mills and cement factories are functioning in the region, heavy vehicular traffic is common along the railway crossing. However, the railway-crossing would be closed at least 40 times a day to make way for train services, causing traffic snarls . Therefore, it was decided to construct an overbridge across the railway crossing for a length of 924 metre and width of 7.50 metre.The project started on January 21, 2010, and should have been completed within two years.
