Railways carried 244.81 million tonnes of commodity-wise freight traffic during April-June 2012 as compared to 233.66 million tonnes carried during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 4.77 per cent. The Net Tonne Kilo Metres (NTKM) went up from 154492 million during April-June 2011 to 156269 million during April-June 2012, showing an increase of 1.15 per cent.
