New Delhi A Railway Protection Force constable was arrested for allegedly molesting a married woman on the Jammu-New Delhi Rajdhani Express on Sunday.
The woman in her mid-twenties boarded the train in Ludhiana with her husband to return to their home in Noida. On the way, constable Manoj Kumar, deployed on the train for passenger safety, “tried to get friendly with her near the door of the compartment” and “when she objected, he tried to get physical”, police sources said.
After the woman cried for help, her husband and other passengers came to her rescue, police said.

After reaching New Delhi railway station, she informed police about the incident.
A zero FIR was lodged and the constable was nabbed from the railway station.
Manoj was sent to Ludhiana with a team of Delhi Police as the incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Punjab Police.
A case under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman to intent her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code was slapped on him.
Additional DCP (Railways) Sanjay Bhatia confirmed the constable’s arrest. “Though the incident did not take place in Delhi, we arrested him on the basis of the woman’s complaint,” he said.
