"due to adverse geographical conditions" They might have built the track with proper earthwork, embackment, Plenty of culverts, underpasses, and most important retaining wall which stops the soil under track flow away by rain. I think railway must be aware of adverse geographical conditions of the site and prepared the DPR according to it.
Good effort by NFR but need to combat the adverse situation by all scientific methodology so that when it start when no problem arises again
