The South Eastern Railway authorities have decided to introduce a new colour scheme for all the EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) and MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) trains, running largely in the suburban areas. Incidentally, the colour scheme include “blue” among other combinations. Interestingly, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee likes blue colour and had declared the blue and white colour scheme for bridges, buildings and many other installations. In the old colour scheme these rakes were painted with “Gulf Red” and “Pale Crèam”. In the new colour scheme, the rakes will be painted in "golden yellow and telegrey” with horizontal

band of “blue lilac” colour, said SER officials. “This new colour scheme will be brighter and look more attractive. The quality of the paint used is such that it will last longer, there will be less amount of “peel off” and there will be less corrosion,” said SER.
