A mother and daughter were run over by a EMU train when they were crossing the tracks between Korukkupet and Basin Bridge station on Tuesday afternoon.
According to railway police, Amir Bi (85) wife of Ameer Basha and her daughter Hagira (60) wife of Basha reside at Ambedkar Street in Korukkupet. At around 11.30 a.m they were crossing the track to go to a shop. They did not notice the Chennai –Gummidipoondi EMU train speeding towards them.
They were hit by the train and died on the spot.
