KOTTAYAM: Finally, the demand for relocating the railway station at Ettumanur has got the green signal from the Railways. MP Jose K Mani informed that Railways has given approval for relocating the station to the middle of Neendoor and Athirampuzha roads. This has been a long-standing demand of the public here. The project is estimated to be over Rs 1 crore.
The station at present is located 200 metres away from Neendoor Road. Once it is relocated, the station will be easily accessible for the commuters coming from MG University, Medical College and Mannanam. The renovation of the station will also help in reducing the rush at the nearby Kottayam railway station.
K Mani also said that Railway has given approval for the widening of the Railway overbridges along the Neendoor-Athirapmpuzha road. The narrow bridges at present are causing traffic snarls in the area.
