Patna: The free high-speed public Wi-Fi service was launched at Darbhanga railway station on Monday. With this, Darbhanga station of Samastipur division under East Central Railway (ECR) has become the sixth station of the zone to get Wi-Fi facility. Samastipur DRM Sudhanshu Sharma inaugurated the facility at the station. Indian Railway's arm RailTel has launched the service at the station in association with Google.
Sharma said the WiFi service would function at Darbhanga station round the clock. Users can avail the facility free of cost for half-an-hour and after that they would have to pay nominal charges. Railways has provided 24 access points at each platform of the station to use Wi-Fi facility. Users would get a password from Railways to access

Wi-Fi, the DRM said, adding that the service would soon be launched at Motihari and Samastipur railway stations as well.
Senior divisional commercial manager of Sonepur division Dileep Kumar said Hajipur and Muzaffarpur stations have already been equipped with Wi-Fi facility.
ECR CPRO Arvind Rajak said Railways would launch Wi-Fi service at 400 stations across the country. "While Patna Junction, Mughalsarai, Dhanbad, Hajipur and Muzaffarpur have already got the facility, it would soon be launched at Gaya," Rajak added.
