Mumbai: Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) first point of sale (PoS) machine was fixed for digital booking on Monday. This PoS machine would be fixed at all station soon. Indian Railways asked the State Bank of India and ICICI bank along with others to provide around 15,000 PoS machine at the reservation counter. railways ministry has also decided to go cashless for paying vendors and contractors. All expenses carried out by zonal and divisional railways will also be following this route. Indian Railways already has 95% of its freight collection done through a cashless payment method. However, in the reserved category, it’s just 55%, though the unreserved and monthly pass categories it is 100% dependent on cash payments, as, payments made through cards was accepted
All the Railway station counter / Reservation center also installed with POS Swipe machine early.Or Debit / Credit card transfer to the IR accounts have to be expedited early for cashless transactions with 2% concessions.
