ALLAHABAD: Fog has affected the rail traffic as well. Several of the trains, reaching, starting from or passing by Allahabad, are running late by several hours. Because of the fog, many passengers were left stranded on the station.
While train movement from all directions has been affected, those coming from Delhi or running on the Delhi-Howrah route are the worst affected. For instance, Prayagraj Express, scheduled to arrive at 6.50am, came over eight hours late and reached Allahabad Junction at 3.25pm. Likewise, several other trains, including Duronto Express, Nandankanan, North-East Express, Kalka Mail and Jodhpur-Howrah are all running over 6 -9 hours late.

like Lichchavi Express, New Delhi-Ranchi Garib rath have been cancelled. Likewise, many of the trains originating from New Delhi would start late by over six hours.
"Not anticipating the inclement weather, I had come to the station at 8am to board Chaurichura Express. But the train came three hours late," said Sanjeev, a passenger.
Because of the late running of trains, the waiting halls were overcrowded with people huddling in their woollens. "Although we knew our train was running late. Yet when we reached the station, we found the train was further delayed," said Ranjana, a passenger on her way to Puri.
