Talgo is eyeing India as a long-term market for its trains and is ready to make its most advanced products here. Recently, José María de Oriol Fabra, Talgo’s CEO told FE Online that the company is willing to manufacture its semi-high speed and high-speed (bullet trains) coaches in India. successfully tried its semi-high speed train on Indian tracks. During the extensive trials, Talgo’s train achieved a speed of 180 km/hr, a first for Indian Railways. The train also completed a journey between Delhi and Mumbai in less than 12 hours. The Rajdhani Express takes around 17 hours for the same journey.
The first prototype of Talgo Avril started its tests in the spring of 2014. Avril is a wide body train with a high capacity configuration of 3+2 seats in a row.
Talgo recently won the contract to supply 15 very high-speed trains (Avrils) to Spanish railways operator Renfe. The maximum permissible speed of these trains in Spain would be 330 km/hour.
According to Talgo, the Avril is 20% lighter than the other high speed trains. Avril has low energy consumption for acceleration and deceleration and less impact on infrastructure, claims the Spanish manufacturer of high-speed trains.
Avril trains can achieve a maximum speed of 380 km/hour. A train of 200 metres can seat up to 600 passengers

For manufacture of 380kmph Talgo Avril trains in India to be a possibility, India need to possess at least a few HST routes. So
Either Talgo have to provide a generous finance for at-least one HST route in India where these trains shall be operated.
Or Talgo has to supply it at much lesser cost than others after a few HST routes are constructed in India.
