Your journey to Calcutta just became a tad easier.
South Eastern Railway will introduce a tri-weekly winter special train between Santragachi and Tatanagar from Monday to ease the mad rush, especially during Christmas and New Year.
The Santragachi-Tata Special Winter Express (02813) will run every Monday, Thursday and Sunday from Santragachi to Tatanagar while the down train (02814) will leave from Tatanagar every Tuesday, Friday and Monday.

manager of Tatanagar O.P. Sharma said Garden Reach, the headquarters of South Eastern Railway, had notified the winter special train on Sunday. "The train with 14 coaches will run from Monday till December 30. It will make 14 trips each in both directions," he said.
The train will leave Santragachi at 7.15pm and arrive at Tatanagar at 10.55pm. The train from Tatanagar will depart at 7.35am and will arrive at the originating station (Santragachi) at 11.20am.
An official at Garden Reach said, "The decision for introducing the train was taken to clear the rush during winter. Passengers can book tickets from today."
A senior functionary of Chotanagpur Passenger Association has welcomed the move. "For the first time a winter special train was introduced by the railways between the two destinations. It will help in crowd management on regular trains like the Steel Express and Ispat Superfast Express," he said.
Frequent traveller Aditya Kumar Jha, who works at a private firm in Jamshedpur, said, "The timing of the train will suit many passengers because after Steel Express there were no trains from Tatanagar to Howrah or Santragachi. The winter train will have special benefits for senior citizens who have a tough time in crowded coaches."
According to officials at the computerised ticket reservation counters in Tatanagar, trains bound for Calcutta witnesses heavy rush in the last week of December. "The winter special train was introduced to buffer that rush."
