Indian Railways is constantly working o­n upgradation of stations and providing high speed transport at par with the best Railway networks. ‘Customer’ is the centre of all activities of Railways and passenger amenities are being upgraded to make the journey comfortable and enjoyable.
All efforts are taken to offer state of the art amenities at importantstations by providing escalators, lifts, battery operated cars, ramps, toilets, waiting halls, parking lots etc.Attention is also given to improvements in station buildings, circulating area.An amount of Rs.42.6 Cr was allotted for provision of Passenger amenities over SWR .

To facilitate movement between platforms, o­ne subway has been provided at Mysuru station connection all platforms.In addition Foot over bridges (FOB) have been provided at 05 stations including extension of FOB at Bengaluru (ext PFNo.8-10).
To provide shade and cover during rainy season to the passengers PF shelters have been provided at 88 stations.
To accommodate longer trains and easy boarding/alightingtrains the length/height of 17 stations have been extended /raised.
For passengers waiting for trains 2879 benches have been provided at 14 stations. Toilet facilities have been provided at 22 stations. E-toilet commissioned at Mysuru.Divyang friendly toilets have been provided at 11 stations.
To facilitate cleaner tracks, Cement Concrete aprons have been commissioned at 3 platforms (one at Bengaluru Cant. & 2 at Hubballi Stn.).
As part of modernisation of stations 9 escalators [Hubballi 2 Nos, Mysuru 2 Nos, Bengaluru 1 Nos, Yesvantpur 4 Nos] and 6 lifts[Bengaluru 1 Nos, Yesvantpur 3 Nos, Mysuru 2 Nos] have been commissioned at important stations..It is further proposed to provide escalator o­n PF no.9/10 at KSR Bengaluru and lifts at 2 at Hospet, 2 at Belgaum & o­ne at Bengaluru in 2017-18.
LED lighting have been provided at 25 stations and LED based name boards at 20 stations and 03 office buildings have been provided.
GPS based Double-sided Digital Clocks: A total of 93 No.s of GPS based double sided Digital Clocks have been commissioned during 2016-17.Also GPS based Tower Clocks have been provided at Vasco da Gama and Dharwad(UBL Div) for precise time.
So far 101 Stations out of 297 have been provided with GPS based Double-side Digital Clocks.
Public Addressing System: Public Address System is provided at various stations to announce the arrival & departure of trains and other information pertaining to passengers. Auto Announcement System has been commissioned at 13 stations (3 No.s – SBC Div, 10 No.s - MYS Div) of SW Railway.
So far 88 Stations have been provided with Auto Announcement System in SW Railway.
Passenger Information System: Coach Guidance Boards have been commissioned at Kengeriand Koppal during the Year 2016-17.
32 Stations are provided with Coach Guidance Boards and 29 stations are provided with Train Indication Boards out of 32 stations of Class A1, A & B of SWR.
Under the “Digital India” initiative, high speed network access has been provided at 4 stations at Bengaluru, Yesvantpur, Mysuru & Hubballi. 210 access points have been installed at these station to provided high speedWi-Fi to passengers.Passengers waiting for trains can remain connected and carry o­n with their work.
Braille signage’s for the visually challenged passengers have been provided at Bengaluru station under Corporate Social Responsibility initiative by M/s Altius Realty.

Railway has decided to introduce Train No. 16575/16576, Yesvantpur-Mangaluru Junction -Yesvantpur Tri-Weekly Express.
The inaugural special will be flagged off by Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister for Railways, o­n 09th April, 2017 at 11:30 hrs. from Madgoan through video conference and the inaugural special train No. 06576 will depart from Mangaluru Junction at 11:30 Hrs. and will run o­n open timings.
The train composition will have 14 coaches comprising of Four Second Class Chair Car, Eight General Second class Coaches and Two Second Class Luggage-cum- Brakevan/Disabled Coaches.

In view of Holy Nababarsha Utsav 1424 (Bengali New Year) of Sree Sree Thakur Ankul Chandra at Gidhni, South Eastern Railway has provided two minutes temporary stoppage of 12871/12872 Howrah-Titlagarh Ispat Express and 12813/12814 Howrah-Tatanagar Steel Express at Gidhni from 13.04.17 to 17.04.17.
·12871 Howrah-Titlagarh Ispat Express will reach Gidhni at 09.22 hrs and in the return direction, 12872 Titlagarh-Howrah Ispat Express will arrive Gidhni at 15.51 hrs and will have two minutes stoppage in both the directions.

Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager, South Central Railway complimented the work force for achieving best results during the financial year 2016-17, overcoming challenges and earning the distinction as best performing Zone o­n Indian Railways. It is their duty mindedness and commitment, which led to SCR attaining significant results, he said. The General Manager was addressing a big gathering of Railway Officers, Staff and their family members at the 62nd Railway Week Zonal Level Celebrations held today i.e., 11th April, 2017 at Rail Kalarang, Bhoiguda, Secunderabad to commemorate the first train run o­n Indian soil.

all Zones o­n Indian Railways by bagging All India Performance Efficiency Shields in five disciplines, the highest amongst all Zones. The General Manager stressed o­n the role of Track Men who patrol the entire network of the Zone and the Loco Pilots who safely carry the passengers to their destinations and stated that it is the employees who are the core strength of the organization. Making a strong pitch for conservation of water and ecology, Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav informed that SCR is undertaking various steps towards water conservation. He added that Secunderabad railway station is amongst five stations o­n Indian Railways chosen for development as Green Stations.
The Zone has achieved apportioned earnings of Rs.12,100 crs. In Freight segment, SCR carried 96.83 Million Tonnes which generated revenue of Rs. 7,934.7 crs. In the passenger segment, SCR carried 375.8 millions of passengers, generating Rs. 3,564.8 crs. Continuing the stress o­n elimination of Unmanned Level Crossings (UMLCs), 149 UMLCs were removed during the last financial year. Yet another endeavor in this aspect is the completion of 79 Road Over/ Road Under Bridges and Limited Height Subways during the year. The General Manager exhorted the Railway personnel to continue to show the same zeal in their works sphere, in the future too.
Later, the General Manager presented 278 individual awards for meritorious work done during the year 2016-17 to Officers and Staff of SCR. He also gave away 32 Efficiency Shields to various Departments & Divisions and 32 Group Awards. The culmination of the glittering function was marked by presentation of the General Manager’s efficiency shield for over all best performance to Secunderabad & Guntakal Divisions, who bagged it jointly. Shri Ashesh Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division and Shri Amitabh Ojha, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal Division received the shield along with their team of Officers.
Earlier, Shri A.K. Gupta, Addl. General Manager, SCR in his welcome address stated that SCR is known for its image as o­ne of the best performing Zones o­n Indian Railways. It is the excellent work culture and the dynamism of the leadership which is the reason for the same, he added. Shri M.Umashankar Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer proposed the vote of thanks. Shri Neelakanta Reddy, Secretary to General Manager and Shri A.K.Singh, Secretary, Public Grievances conducted the proceedings.

Special Traffic Block o­n Trans Harbour Line Between Thane and Vashi/Nerul
