The Tiruchi-Palakkad passenger train derailed close to the Erode Railway Junction on Tuesday evening.
Along with the engine, the first compartment reportedly went off the track.
Divisional Railway Manager, Salem Division, Sujatha Jeyaraj visited the spot and held an inquiry. She made arrangements for accommodation of passengers from the derailed train in the West Coast Chennai-Mangalore Express.
The express train would halt at all stops on way to Palakkad. The Nagercoil-Coimbatore Express train had to be detained at Pasur.
