After the snag on the Blue Line, it was Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line (Samaypur Badli to HUDA City Centre) that was affected on Thursday. Commuters, especially office goers and students, faced a harrowing time as services were affected on the corridor during peak hours in the morning.
Signal issues
According to a report prepared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), services on the Yellow Line were affected during the early morning hours on June 30 due to a signalling issue in one of the trains.
“The

train was going from Samaypur Badli to HUDA City Centre. By the time it reached Model Town, a signalling problem developed. As a result, emergency brakes were applied. The train continued to move erratically as it headed towards Rajiv Chowk,” said an official.
The slow movement of this train led to bunching of other trains between 8:14 a.m. and 9:10 a.m.
Explaining the emergency brake system, the official said that metro trains are designed to be ‘fail-safe’ to ensure safety of passengers. Brakes are applied automatically by the system when errors, like that in the signalling system, occur.
“To avoid further impact on services, the passengers were asked to deboard at Rajiv Chowk. The train was withdrawn from service and sent for investigation,” added another official.
Commuters, meanwhile, took to Twitter to express their anger.
While one person compared the metro to a bullock cart, another tweeted, “Yellow line of metro running painfully slow. Leave way ahead of your time Delhi people. #DelhiMetro.”

Train services on Line-2 (Samaypur Badli to HUDA City Centre) were briefly affected today due to signaling issue in a Train, which was going from Samyapur Badli to HUDA City Centre. This was caused by signaling problem in this train as it reached Model Town station, leading to application of Emergency Brakes, which was behaving erratically as the train moved towards Rajiv Chowk station. This resulted in slow movement of this train leading to bunching of the trains behind on the Line between 8:14 AM to 9:10 AM.

They demand withdrawal of amendments to rules, empowering courts to debar erring lawyers
Stepping up their agitation demanding withdrawal of the recent amendments to statutory rules of the Madras High Court, empowering courts to debar erring lawyers, about 165 advocates courted arrest in Ramanathapuram and Sivaganga districts after they staged a rail roko on Wednesday.

policemen, acting under supervision of Superintendent of Police. N Manivannan and Assistant Superintendent of Police S. Sarvesh Raj, arrested about 110 advocates when they assembled on the railway track but the train was stopped outside the station. The train was held up briefly and left for Rameswaram.
The lawyers were arrested under Section 151 of Indian Penal Code (unlawful assembly), detained in a marriage hall and released in the evening. Those courted arrest included lawyers who were members of bar associations of Paramakudi, Mudukulathur, Thiruvadanai and Rameswaram.
Sivaganga
Fifty-five lawyers were arrested when they blocked the Manamadurai-Mannarkudi passenger train at Sivaganga railway station. They were detained in a marriage hall and released in the evening.
The lawyers, who had been boycotting the courts, staged the stir as part of a State-wide agitation in response to a call given by the Bar Federations of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. They are demanding withdrawal of the amendments in toto .
The amendments were ‘draconian’ in nature and they would seriously affect their free functioning, they said.
The full bench of Madras High Court has assured that no action would be taken against lawyers under the present amendments but they would call off the agitations only if the amendments were withdrawn, they said.
Dindigul
About 200 lawyers in Dindigul and Palani courted arrest when they picketed trains.
About 100 lawyers picketed Tirunelveli-Erode / Mayiladuthurai passenger train at Dindigul railway station. In Palani, lawyers picketed Madurai-Pollachi passenger train.
