* In next 10 years, as per plans of IR, we can expect a large number of the express trains to be 24LHB coaches with maximum speed of 130/160kmph, also the freight loading and speed of goods trains are slated to be increased.
* Also IR is planning to increase the horsepower per Ton load of trains to increase the speed and sectional capacity as well.
* Under these circumstances, it would be better if IR prefers to acquire more number of 6000HP locomotives than 4500 HP locomotives instead of importing 700 nos....

But maybe 4500 are for freight and 6000 for passenger teains?

Nahi, high horse power locomotive freight trains k liye use hota Hai. BTW all these 1000 locomotives would be for freight trains only.
6000 hp locomotives ka axle load bahoot jyada Hoga & tracks of most of the unelectrified routes of IR can't withstand that much Axle load so not much 6000 hp locomotives. Bheem bhi isliye certain routes me hi chalta hai.
