On a frosting cold December morning, half an hour late running 12885 Shalimar (SHM)- Santaldih (SNTD)- Bhojudih (BJE) ARANYAK Superfast Express headed by a furious looking 22854 SRC (Santragachi) shed WAP-4 with headlights on cuts through the somewhat dense fog, and blasts through Bhogpur station on SER's HWH- KGP stretch.
This train has got a record of getting extensions on numerous occasions. Earlier, it was upto Bankura. Then got extended to Adra, then Santaldih, and finally upto Bhpjudih. It follows SER's Shalimar- Santragachi- Kharagpur- Midnapore- Bishnupur- Bankura- Adra- Santaldih- Bhojudih route.

stretch, and overtakes a loaded BOBYN rake cruising through the Up main line. Note how the flagman and the loco pilot of the Waggie heading the freight shows green flag to the loco pilot of the Wappie. The reschedule was due to the ban of passenger traffic movement on Kharagpur- Tatanagr stretch during that time as an aftermath of the Jnaneshwari Super Deluxe sabotage.
Note that the rake has a SLR in the middle of the rake. After the train reaches Sambalpur, the rear end of the rake is detached, and the front portion carries its journey towards Jagdalpur. Earlier, it used to run till Korapur, but from July 30, 2012, the route has been extended till Jagdalpur. The train follows Howrah- Santragachi- Kharagpur- Tatanagr- Chakradharpur- Rourkela- Jharsaguda- Sambalpur- Balangir- Titlagarh- Rayagada- Koraput- Jeypore- Jagdalpur route of SER/ ECoR.

Barbie Doll Wammie of Tata honks and braves the fog in a freezing December morning!!

On a freezing December morning, 8 hours late running 58014 Bokaro Steel City (BKSC)- Howrah (HWH) Fast Passenger headed by a honking 21263 Barbie Doll liveried TATA shed WAM- 4 (ex. Vijaywada, Arakkonam, Lallaguda) cruises through Bhogpur station on SER's KGP- HWH stretch enroute at a fair speed. The train was running on revised timing due to the ban of passenger traffic movement during the night on the Adra- Kharagpur stretch as an aftermath of the Jnaneshwari sabotage.
The train generally gets SRC shed WAP-4 now-a-days, so it was a welcome sight for me and fellow...

Note that the coach composition was more like an Express train rather than a Passenger one, which comprised of two SLR, a solitary General coach, five Sleepers, one First Class coach and one A.C. Three Tier. This is the only train of SER that still have a First Class coach. Surprisingly, the train does not halt at Santragachi, where even the Down Coromandel and Faluknuma halts.
The train uses the Bokaro Steel City- Chandrapura- Mahuda- Bhojudih- Adra- Bankura- Midnapore- Kharagpur- Panskura- Santragachi- Howrah route of SER.
