Kalupur railway station will sport a brand new look and upped facilities in 2015. Often associated with commotion and chaos, the station will now have a clean, minimalistic and chaos-free look, thanks to modernisation plans set into motion. The renovation exercise is focused on the front façade of the station which witnesses the worst traffic bottleneck. On offer is a new ticket booking place with more windows to cater to the rush; there will also be separate lanes for incoming vehicles (autos, taxi and BRTS) and better managed parking lots — all this at a cost of Rs1.8 crore
Talking about the makeover, divisional railway manager AK Tiwari said construction has already started. “The new ticket booking office is right at the entrance, unlike the earlier one where people had to go inside the station. In addition, it is positioned to allow passengers direct entry to the platform,” said Tiwari.
Apart from this, the office may have additional booking windows to cater to the rush.Pradeep Sharma, public relations officer (PRO), Western Railways, said the booking office will have 21 or more counters. “This will help reduce the time people spend waiting to book their tickets and will minimise the crowding,” said Sharma.
He added that a brand new waiting room and a food joint are also in the offing. “We plan to transform the old booking office into a food joint,” said Sharma.
The other initiative is to construct a three-lane driving facility in front of the station. This is being done to reduce chaos and congestion.
Explaining further, Sharma said the first lane will exclusively be for BRTS buses. It will be one-way, he added. “The second will be allotted to auto drivers. People who wish to get an auto or get down from one will be restricted to that particular lane. Autos will also be parked there,” said Sharma.
Auto drivers at the railway station have welcomed the move. One such driver, Mahinder Sindhi, said such a clearly demarcated area will help them function better. “If the auto parking stand and lanes are demarcated properly and function systematically, it will be of great help to us as it will avoid constant altercations with authorities and cops,” said Sindhi.
The third lane will be for private vehicles that come to the station to drop and pick passengers. This lane will also be connected to a parking slot exclusively for private two and four-wheelers.
Amdavadis, meanwhile, have welcomed the move. Mohit Variya, an engineering student who regularly travels between Ahmedabad and Rajkot, said, “I think the shifting of the booking windows is the best thing to happen. It means we don’t have to go inside the railway station to book tickets although I am sceptical whether the new place will help reduce the chaos.”
Tiwari said the whole project is expected to be over by the first quarter of 2015.
“Once this is implemented, navigating through the station will become a hassle-free affair. Crowding will also come down drastically,” said Tiwari.

Taking a glance at the "Premium AC Express Section "(Yet to be introduced)in recent timetable(September 2014 edition) I think IR should provide a "Premium AC Express with LHB Coaches Coaches" having selected stoppages" the demand of Gujrat bound passengers from Howrah in a less amount of time than the existing SF expresses
"Non Stop Duronto" won't be popular or profitable in this long route of 2088 km rather a "Weekly or biweekly Premium AC Exp with LHB Coaches" can be popular and profitable if introduced for in this "Crowded Route"
IR is requested to think deeply about introducing a "Weekly or biweekly Premium AC Exp with LHB Coaches having " selected from stoppages" Howrah to Ahmedabad in this route in future having selected important stoppages

Sep 17 2014 (3:49PM)
Because prevalent Superfast trains in this route have taken a large great amount deal of time due to plethora of stoppages these train have between HWH and ADI ADI(both in Up and Down Trips)

ICF also can satisfy the demand. No LHB is required. But the rake should be a "GOOD ONE" in all respect. If it is done then it is fine.
I don't think then IR have to spend money for manufacturing seperate LHB.

I think then separate LHB coach won't be required and these hybrid coaches can be used in all trains and the cost of manufacturing will be reduced to a considerable extent
I will definitely keep your points in mind. No issue.
What Pradyu wrote about ICF is not wrong I agree but what I am saying is there any technology which can convert an ICF rake to LHB????
I want to mean that the structure will be in the style of ICF but the body and other accessories will be made in the style of "LHB". I think then separate LHB coach won't be required and these hybrid coaches can be used in all trains and the cost of manufacturing will be reduced to a considerable extent. What do you think ??????

I dont know about the technicalities involved. I believe that ICF or LHB, what is more important is maintaining it correctly and running trains as per a schedule that can be maintained realistically. Everybody wants their favourite train to be given priority over everything on its route and that's really not feasible

Agreed!

Sep 19 2014 (11:00PM)
(Yet to be introduced) Please have a look at it
You will understand my viewpoint

Sep 19 2014 (10:55PM)
Now if Rajdhani is to be given priority then Duronto and other Superfast ones should be stopped at a station to give the full clearance to Rajdhani, which indeed nevertheless possible and for this reason what I think first of all increase number of tracks and strengthen the infrastructure from all corner, produce coaches(ICF or LHB whatever you choose) choose for a train) then increase train realistically keeping in mind the smooth running of that train

Sep 19 2014 (10:54PM)
But tracs are not so much like the number of trains increased rapidly in IR IR, and there are no seperate tracks for running "Goods Train" as yet

Agreed!
Certainly not feasible because in every route of Indian Railways there are a large number of trains moreover apart from these there are "Goods Train" too.But tracs are not so much like the number of trains increased rapidly in IR, and there are no seperate tracks for running "Goods Train" as yet.
For example
Take the route of Sealdah to New Delhi
Many trains are their like Rajdhani,Duronto Superfast Exp etc. Now if Rajdhani is to be given priority then Duronto and other Superfast ones should be stopped at a station to give the full clearance to Rajdhani, which indeed nevertheless possible and for this reason what I think first of all increase

number of tracks and strengthen the infrastructure from all corner, produce coaches(ICF or LHB whatever you choose for a train) then increase train realistically keeping in mind the smooth running of that train. Too much train is not required for a single destination(e.g NDLS),from a single originating point(e.g HWH) which will create "traffic jam" in a certain route. Instead provide trains of such type which will cater to the needs of all types of commuters for any destination from every originating point.
That's why in my blog entry vide no:Entry# 1218855 I expressed my opinion about HWH LTT Premium AC Exp.(Yet to be introduced) Please have a look at it. You will understand my viewpoint.
