Yes, But as it is LHB so the rake will be sent to NDLS after making necessary repairs and replacement for highly damaged coaches. Again a massive rail accident saved by LHB with 0 casualty. LHB saved casualty last June this year in case of DBRT Raj near Chapra. This is the second time. It would be a horrible accident if it would be ICF as the speed of the train is quoted in the news. Please see the news.

Howrah at 3pm. “The cause of the accident is being looked into. According to the directives of the commissioner of railway safety, a five-member inquiry committee has been set up comprising senior administrative officers. The chief safety officer of Eastern Railway will head the committee,“ said R K Gupta, general manager of Eastern Railway , who visited the accident site. The accident comes at a time when the rail ministry has directed Indian Railways to give top priority to passenger safety . Sources in Eastern Railway , however, revealed that the accident occurred due to a technical problem at a `diamond crossing' on which the Poorva Express was moving. The railway yard outside Howrah has several such crossover points used by trains to move from one track to the other. However, passengers were fortunate that the train was moving at a slow speed just after leaving Howrah. Had the derailment occurred while the train was at a high speed, there might have been serious casu alties. Complete chaos followed the derailment of the sleeper coaches. Eastern Railway staff and local people from Liluah rushed to the accident spot while passengers wailed and screamed from inside. An Eastern Railway accident relief train reached the site within a while and passengers were evacuated from the affected coaches. An emergency medical camp was set up at Liluah station and passengers were accommodated in the waiting room and offices. Later, another relief train of South Eastern Railway also arrived at the spot. Eastern Railway officials, however, said that they took proper care of the passengers of the derailed train. “We arranged lunch for them and got them proper berths in the special train. In the evening, they were served tea and snacks,“ said R N Mahapatra, chief public relations officer of Eastern Railway . While the up chord line was restored around 7pm, it took till later in the night to run normal services in the down chord line. Thousands of commuters suffered throughout the day as train services in the Howrah-Burdwan chord section remained irregular.Several long distance trains were also affected. . Link:click here

Passengers of the 12381 Up Howrah-New Delhi Poorva Express can thank their stars that they were travelling in advanced Linke-HoffmanBosch coaches. Had the Poorva Express not changed over to LHB rakes earlier this year, there could have been serious casualties after Sunday's derailment outside Liluah station. “The sound was like that of an explosion. I couldn't see anything for some time as a cloud of dust covered the area. Initially, I thought people had died inside the coaches. But, I was relieved when they were rescued... Read more...
shaken but largely unhurt,“ said Debapriya Roy , an eyewitness to the morning mishap who joined hands in the rescue work. Even Jishnu Nandi, the loco pilot of a goods train waiting on Line 4, couldn't believe that passengers would get away only with minor bruises after what he witnessed. “I was in my driver's cabin when there was this loud thud and a cloud of dust. I saw the passenger coaches moving towards my train. I immediately grabbed the red flasher and flag and ran forward. Even after the train stopped, I readied myself for what I felt would be tragic scenes,“ he said. . Link:click here
