Few years back iron ore from Karnataka used to get dumped here and then moved by trucks. The sidings were always occupied by BOXN Wagons now after mining ban they are empty.

Superb coverage bro. One thing really surprised me that is the crossing at SVM.
SVM has just one platform and in your case the Vasco Kulem passenger occupied it so your train was halted on the track without platform. They should have stranded the passenger and Chandor its completely illogical to halt a long distance train on track without platform. Its unsafe too people would have to face unnecessary trouble here.

Well, this is news to me!! :D lol I was so engrossed in capturing the crossing that i failed to notice the other side of the station (which apparently doesn't have a pf according to what u say); And I guess its upto the SM to decide where we should be halted! If u had observed we had crossed the UBL-BAY pass in some station where we didn't have a halt and we were halted in the loopline and the pass was received in the mainline!

Yes bro its pretty unsafe for halting trains on non platform tracks. Yes SVM has just one platform and 18047 has scheduled halt there too.

A short trip report of my journey from Vasco to Sanvordem in 12779 Goa Super Express.
I had to go to Vasco Da Gama today for some work in Mormugao Municipality today. My work was over by 2.45 pm. Now the question rose in my mind should I go back to my home via the same 2 bus trip which I took in the morning for reaching VSG or should I wait till evening for the one train and one bus trip back to home in the evening Vasco Kulem passenger. But after watching that it was 2.45 pm and the municipality is just near to the Railway station I set my eyes in 12779 super which earlier I had spotted in
the VSG yard with a KJM WDP4. So I rushed to the station brought a UR ticket to SVM and boarded a UR coach third from the loco.
Now comes the main part. Train was parked on PF#1. Kulem Vasco passenger was resting on PF#2. PNBE VSG was being shunted in the yard by a WDM3D most probably from ET shed with as usual two extra SL coaches after S11. A BOXN rake loaded with some coils was awaiting for its turn to enter the Port. Just few minutes before our departure a coal loaded BOXN arrived at VSG from the Port led by UBL WDG4 twins. Regarding rush luckily I got a seat, not much rush in SL coaches may be due to offseason.
The EMD beast gave a thundering roar and we left VSG sharp at 3.10 pm. The EMD did not show its true power till Sankval from where it started speeding up, overtaking a weirdly coupled Twin WDG4 loaded BOXN rake both were 4500 HP WDG4s evident from their livery both coupled in LHF mode which was quite surprising besides two BCNA rakes were also there in the Zuari Industries rail siding at Sankval.
After Sankval train skipped Cansaulim at good speed not MPS though crossing a Twin WDG4 led BOXN rake bound to Vasco. Surprisingly we skipped Majorda Junction through the PF#1 instead of the main line. But after that the EMD thundered all the way to MAO outers at MPS skipping Suravali at MPS. After waiting for about 5 minutes at outers we entered MAO at 3.50 pm on PF#1, where we met the "Bengali Damsel in Distress" 18047 UP HWH VSG Amaravati express running late by around 1 hour 50 minutes hauled by SCR's GY WDG3A Twins on PF#2. This poor train was heavily delayed in Dharwad Londa stretch may be due to HPT VSG track doubling works. I wanted to notice its CC but when I had just stated and was nearing the AC coaches few coaches of KR parked on the track between our platforms blocked my view. Lots of people boarded the train at MAO both making the UR coaches overcrowded. Lots of reserved passengers too.
We departed MAO after around 7 to 8 minutes and skipped SJDA while the EMD was still trying to accelerate after few minutes it accelerated to MPS and skipped Chandor within no time while crossing a Twin WDG4 led BOXN to Vasco. After few minutes the EMD started to deaccelerate indicating that its next halt SVM my destination was nearing. Finally entered SVM at around 4.20 pm where I bid farewell and Happy journey to Goa Super and went to the SVM Railway station bus stop for a 14 kms bus ride back to home. Moderate rush at SVM.
Lol even the bus was in MPS mood reached my destination in just 15 minutes ie. 14 kms in 15 minutes which is great for local private buses in Goa.
This was the end of a wonderful one train and one bus ride to home.

PS: Loco link KJM WDP4 #20057 as per my das he whenever he goes near VSG Railway station he has spotted Goa Super with EMD so members please confirm the link and update.

A few notings after the trip.
1. Goa express link most probably changed from KJM Alco to KJM EMD, can be updated on our site after further confirmation.
2. Construction work of additional platforms going on at Madgaon Jn.
3. Once a SCR's GY Alco dominated section ie. VSG to QLM is taken over by SWR's KJM and UBL Alcos and EMDs. Now only
Amaravati express gets GY Alcos here even for banking passenger rakes they use UBL WDG4s spotted 2 months back on my trip on VSG YPR express to Londa Jn.
4. During Alco reign I never witnessed 12779 at MPS in VSG QLM stretch but today the EMD gave it to me.

Travelled in this train today from Miraj to SVM. Arrived Miraj at Platform #3 at 22.15 led by the usual combo of Pune WDM3D and WDM3A. Coach Number S6 and S5 total members 4, 2 in each coach. The UR coaches were pretty much full also the Sleeper coaches and then there were the W/L passengers hunting for seats. 12779 arrived from opposite end on Platform #2 as Mahalaxami Express was on Platform #1 which departed for CSTM around 22.20 and 12779 arrived just a few minutes after its departure bang on time. My train departed Miraj bang on time and after crawling at outers for few minutes picked up good speed. Toilets were in OK condition but the wash basin was full of tobacco wrappers and the dirty red gutka spit. Coach was in good condition well maintained by the Railways I must say, but it was full of...
biscuit and snack plastic wrappers and empty bottles for which I wont blame the Railways its the attitude of people towards public property which must be at fault.
I could very well hear the hard chugging and whinning of the Alcos in my S6 coach. Had a good sleep for the night. Woke up at 4.55 when it was at Kulem. Departed around 5.20 and reached SVM at 5.38. Got down and said a bye to my favourite train and our VSG bound 4th member. The train finally left for VSG at 5.40 after a 2 minutes brief halt.
Overall it was a good experience even though it was around 35 minutes late. Few disappointments were most of the basins were filled with gutka trash so had difficulty brushing in the morning. Coach maintenance was good but cleaniness was below average as it had travelled all the way from Delhi and also there were a lot of families travelling who as per my opinion dirty the trains more than individual passengers apart from the gutka eaters.
Speedwise it was acceptable for the slow route as per my GPS Speedometer app it hit around 93 somewhere around Ghataprabha. But I strongly feel that the RPF and the TTEs should take firm action against those litering the coaches.
A few things I missed were spotting the loco link of 12779, Mahalaxami Express loco link was Pune WDP4D but missed noticing its CC and the descend through the mighty Braganza Ghats along with the dried out Dudhsagar.

A brief trip report of a brief trip in one of my most favorite train.
Date of journey 28 September 2014.
Coach S5.
From Miraj Junction to Sanvordem but reservation till Vasco.
Arrived at Miraj
Jn in Kolhapur Sangli evening passenger train. Had dinner at a nearby hotel. We were a group of 4 devotees on a short pilgrimage tour to Pandharpur, Narshingwadi and Mahalakshmi Temple at Kolhapur returning to our home in Goa. Out of us 4 three were to get down at Sanvordem and only one member till Vasco. After two hours wait announcement was made for both 12779 & 12780 at around 22.25 that train is arriving soon. After around 20 to 25 minutes of wait 12780 finally arrived behind Twin Pune WDM3D and WDM3A combo both in orange livery at the same time 12779 arrived from other end but could not spot its link although I'm sure it was a Twin Alco combo too due to its heavy chuggs. My train arrived on platform 3 whereas NZM bound train was on platform 1.
As usual in long distance IR trains W/L passengers had occupied all of our seats 2 UBs, 1 MB and 1 SUB. After a trouble of awekening those people from a deep sleep we finally settled ourselves on our berths. Train departed Miraj Jn at 23.00 late by half an hour. Train picked up good speed after the departure the alcos were chugging pretty hard which was very much audible far away in my S5 coach. Got a good sleep but for hours which was broken by an EMD combo hauled BOXN but didn't know where I was but when we neared the end of the BOXN rake there was a hard humming sound of none other than triple EMDs banking the rake and I realised that I was in the Braganza ghat section and the freight was halted for crossing and my downhill train was halted for the mandatory brake testing followed in Ghat sections. Slept again and woke up at Kulem once again due to two uphill BOXN rakes hauled by EMD combos awaiting starter. Once my train made a halt the BOXN next to my train got a starter and could very well enjoy the EMD music both of horns and the locos and as usual even this one was banked by a triple EMD consist which is nothing new here. Had a look at the second one awaiting a starter and also the rake of Kulem Vasco passenger parked at its usual spot. After a 15 minutes halt my train got a go signal and when i reached the end of the station saw that the second freight was indeed waiting more for bankers rather than a starter and no more triple EMDs were visible in nearby vicinity.
Train picked up good speed but not good enough to cover the one hour delay finally arrived Sanvordem at 6.00 late by around one hour we bid farewell to our Vasco bound member and deboarded the Super express took a bus to village and that was a sweet end to our brief pilgrimage trip.
Regarding the rush the UR coaches were jam packed as usual and even the sleeper coaches were fully occupied there were many waitlist and even unreserved passengers in my coach.
Overall the coach was clean and well maintained. And out of the 4 toilets 3 including the western one were clean whereas the 4th one " My God someone had loose motions in the coach and that too very bad"😢.
Speed was good but was actually 57 minutes late at SVM in reality but in the virtual world of NTES it was only 49 minutes late at SVM.
As per NTES it reached VSG only 20 minutes late but I'll have to confirm the actual delay from our VSG bound 4th member.
No experience of pantry since it was a short overnight trip.
I'm sorry if I have made any grammatical mistakes in the above trip report.

Yeah I think sometimes they update the time at the station outers rather than the time at which the train reaches the platform.

This has happened many time in mys-sbc rajya-rani express, it arrived sbc outer around 10-15mins late and enters sbc 30-35mins but NTES shows as 15mins late.
