Same kind of pressure can be brought for NGP-VSG train also, not a big deal. Any how we have still slots open for 9 am dep from Vasco, other than Mondays and Fridays. But here the scenario is different, CR want to connect Konkan MH with Vidarbh, so they are least interested to divert this train via Miraj.

It is a big deal actually. Because, it's not just SWR alone that has to be convinced. The Railway board has been instrumental in putting restrictions on the ghat sections. The new train came up because of the train's destination being the Railway minister's home region and the need for the government to placate the politicians from AP who have been demanding for a special status for the state and a new railway zone. Several things just worked in the train's favor and it was introduced. I don't mean to be discouraging, but the new train's introduction was nothing short of a miracle. Unless the RM manages to persuade the RB once again, it is unlikely to see the ghat section opening up again. Even if it does, pretty much SCR and SR are the only zones with enough clout to force such a decision.

It's not a matter of the slot being free. In the ghat routes, it's about number of services operating per day. So, even if the operating slot is free, there might be more freights running on that day completing the quota for that day. So, it will not be possible to introduce a new train just if the slot is free. Even for the new VSG-TPTY/HYD train, SWR was complaining that it had to cancel 2 freight slots to allow the new train.

They do use AEB locos, but the fact is that if the safety features in the rolling stock fail, then there is no scope for salvaging the situation. A few years ago, there was a freight derailment ( I had come across the wagons lying beside the tracks on a hike to Dudhsagar) on the route between Castle Rock and Dudhsagar. Luckily, the wagons did not run off the edge of the hill because they just happened to derail in one of the few safer sections on the route. This is the danger that the railways are keen to avoid with passenger trains.
While the gradients are the same, both routes are quite different. The Bhor

and Thull ghat routes are quite easily accessible as they lie close to the highway or other towns and in addition, they are built on less treacherous terrain. A quick glance at the Braganza or the Shiradi routes makes it apparent that these routes are very precariously laid, and also the main ghat sections are quite isolated. This makes track monitoring and maintenance an absolute nightmare. A lot of things have to be set up before these routes can see more traffic.

Very good elaboration, but now freights being reduced. Is it not possible to start few more trains on the route, as RM from same zone and Vidarba(NGP) being MH CM's home, can't they pressurize same way as AP did for recent train. Rather what i suspect they wanted to connect Ratnagiri region to Nagpur than short route.

The problem with CR trains is they only care about serving Konkan Railways. That's why no CR train terminates at Vasco. Till now Vasco has no connection to Mumbai inspite of repeated demands. Don't understand what keeps CR and other zones from running trains till VSG. Is it KR playing games here ?
Goa Rajdhani, Goa SK, Jan Shatabdi ?

This is what happens when you're at a crossing in KR but you're so pampared by Mondovi's pantry that you barely capture the king of the section.

Presenting the first part of a full Journey on the train which is touted to have the most aggressive run in the Konkan Railways amongst M/E and SF category trains- the 12133 Mumbai CST Mangalore Jn. Rocket SF express; this video covers the entire run through Maharashtra from Mumbai CST to Sawantwadi road. On a totally wet monsoon evening my friends and I set out from our accommodations near Mumbai Central to Mumbai CST. Apart from the lashing out rains, another major hindrance was the strike of the taxi drivers that day. We somehow managed to convince a guy to help us out and finally left from near BCT at 19:55, our train departed CST at 22:00hours. Upon reaching CST, we found that our train would depart from pf14. A WDM3D from Kalyan shed was our power. We left from CST bang on time at 22:00hours.
Our

exit by itself was a spark filled one, with the panto of a BSL WAP4 being taken out with a huge spark as we moved out. It was probably heading into CSTM to take charge of some late night departure. After slowly crawling past Masjid station, the ‘Rocket’ finally began picking up pace. Parel, Dadar, Kurla were all dispatched at MPS. After Kurla, we could see a line of green on the 5th line leading out for a train coming from LTT. We assumed it to be the Coimbatore bound express. But whatever it was, didn’t manage to catch up with us even after we reached Thane. At Thane we encountered the Rajendranagar bound Janata express. We were received on pf5, the Janshatabdi from Madgaon crossed us here and we were given the go ahead before the Janata express.
After departing Thane, we rushed towards Diva Jn., our branch off point to veer away towards the Konkan. Post a crawling skip of Diva, my heavy eyes got the better of me and I drifted off into sleep. Though I wanted to wake up to see Ratnagiri, I couldn’t manage it; and woke up just before Vilavade. At Nandgaon road we encountered our first crossing after daybreak. A BCNA freighter headed twin Goods EMDs from GY shed rushed northwards. At Kankavali, we had our breakfast. It was being sold by Vendors who came in with basket loads of Sandwiches, Idli Vada, Upma Vada and Dosa. It’s definitely worth a try.
Our pace was restricted to 90kmph since we were following monsoon schedule, but the nonstop runs were amazing. The entire Konkan region was resplendent with greenery. The monsoon rains only added to the beauty. Sindhudurg was dealt with at MPS. At the next station we were looped to make way for the Hapa bound express from Tirunelveli. It was led by a WDP4D from VTA shed. Showers were making their presence felt as the crossing happened. Zarap and Sawantwadi road were dispatched at MPS. After crossing Madure, the last station in Maharashtra, we entered Goa; the entire run through Goa has already been uploaded. Please do take a look at that too.
The notable moments of this run were the high speed skips of stations like Vaibhavwadi road, Sindhudurg, Zarap and Sawantwadi road. This train is truly worth taking, whether it’s a non monsoon ride of monsoon ride. A High speed no nonsense fantastic train to travel along the Konkan coast, I highly recommend this train for travelers who want to do the ride between Mumbai and Mangalore.
