If you have to travel from Delhi to Coastal Odisha , then your train availability searching priority should as: (For SL class)
1. Purushottam express (No doubt about this train;Book this as your 1st preference)
2. BBS Duronto express (only for Bhubaneswar people ; Punctuality is poor; But very safe and secure as no unreserved or daily travellers are allowed to

Punctuality very good ??? Kya bol dia aapne sir...Its Excellent. Balasore pe Utkal aur Purushottam do train aati hain at midnight from Delhi, but Puru majority 1-1.30hr delay rehti hai but Utkal humesha ontime.
But kharabi yeh hai ki Koi leta hi nahi hai from Delhi to Coastal odisha. Itna circular journey kaun kare. ;)
Western odisha jyada prefer karte hain Utkal.
Actually ham Rourkela waalo ke liye Utkal bahut achhi train he, punctuality pe kabhi sawaal ni uthata and Rourkela waalo ko WAP7 ke darshan bhi Utkal hi karaati he.
Thats right...ECoR ne more faster ANVT BBS SF de di for western odisha, but woh kabhi bhi on time nahi chalti. Always 4-5hrs delay.
But this old horse Utkal always stay on time whatever be the season. Best preferred by Wetern odisha only.
actually mein iska route kaafi zyada lambaa h . bt i hv travelled in this train till tatanagar from NZM it was late bt after that the LP came into aggressive mode nd bang !!!! it reached before time at PURI

Yes...the pantry standard is average below standard.....Instead good pantry is present in Odisha sampark kranti which serves good quality food as per my last journey experience.
But then we have to compromise on Punctuality factor if we check on pantry quality.
I hv traveled from PURI to NZM in Kaling utkal exp. Punctuality is good but it covers very long route
Agree..Longer route but Journey time is very long with Huge amount of halts.
No one prefers Utkal because of its route
delhi to Odisha travelling people don't like Utkal exp but the people of MP , specially from jabalpur side (Boarding from Katni) and going to Balasore-Bhadrak, people still prefer Kalinga Utkal due to its punctual and direct route.
End to End people don't prefer but Intermediate travellers prefer it very much due to its good seat availability.
No of reservations are very less in this train . Mostly general ticket holders and daily passangers use this train.

There are 7 trains fŕom DLI to BBS but why not a single train via BE.
BE and MB needs a train to BBS and Puri
The reason is absolute stoppage of starting any new train for odisha.
The last train that was started for odisha to north india was ANVT BBS Weekly SF which was for Western Odisha on the same departure slot as of Odisha Sampark kranti.
After that till now there is NO trains started. All the RM have completely ignored to connect Puri , a one of the Biggest tourist destination with Jammu-Katra or Haridwar or Amritsar North Indian cities.
Yes there should be train JAT-PURI via LDH-UMB-SRE-BE-SCC-GKP-CPR

Hirakund is a good option actually...
Nandan Kanan and Neelachal are hardly punctual...
Problem with Hirakund is Huge Number of Halts and very slow TT with Heavy inflow of MST/UR travellers between Delhi-Bina.
Whereas in nandan Kanan , the rush is bit less as compared to Hirakund....If ECoR somehow Speed up Hirakund express (which is easily possible) , then i would say it can climb up to atleast Rank 2.
Problem is that a train with as much halts as Hirakud will need little more slack...
I wont deny that its not feasible...
Ofcourse its feasible, at the same time too much halts should be removed.
P.S: removing stops aint that easy :P :P
Pinned down correctly.....Once a Halt is introduced, it nearly IMPOSSIBLE to remove that halt.

But we ppl of Balasore could never see TKD WAP-7 of Utkal exp as both up and down trains arrive here late at night... isliye hum Rajdhani k WAP-7 se kaam chala lete hain... so till now only 2 trains of Odisha r getting WAP-7 from start to end... Duronto ko kabhi kabhi as an offlink mil jati hai WAP-7 but very rarely..Purushottam should get it upto Puri instead upto KGP..

BE and MB koi chhote cities to h nhi jo aap kah raje ho ki jarurat nhi . Ab train nhi h to LKO ,CNB ya NDLS se train board karni padti h BE MB walo

I am telling about people boarding from these cities. Not much people from those side reside in Odisha not much people from Odisha reside on that region
I agree MB and BE are big cities but demand won't be much to Odisha than any other place
A dedicated train to Puri - MB won't be a hit but yes a train goin via these place to another place will be hit
But Puri and BBS is religious destination. So many people go there

If asking about Purushottam express, then yes this train have charging sockets in every SL coach near every seat. Its LHB coaches.
All The SL coaches doesn't have charging socket near each seat.
As it has total 5 set of rakes, out of which some coaches have sockets near seat and the older ones have sockets near the main door.
ECo r should tighten in the TT of hirakud in Odisha, sambalpur jn loco reversal should be avoided
Yes...About 20-30 minutes speed up is possible for VSKP-ASR Hirakund express between CTC-JSG.
And instead of Sambalpur bypass, i would say EcoR should electrify the SBP-JSG stretch and then Loco change over can be doe at SBP itself with reversal also just like its happening at present at JSG. And due to which, it can bypass JSG station.
It will be more easier for the ECoR train to bypass SER satellite station instead of bypassing a ECoR Division Junction.
for an ecor train to bypass ser junction administrative permission of ser zone is required. but it is administratively easier for ecor to bypass their own junction.
SBP is divisional HQ. And bypassing a Divisional HQ by the home zone well demanded train is nearly impossible.
Labor unions and People of Sambalpur won't accept this kind of bypass.
JSG is very small as compared to SBP and bypassing it wont serve much of loss to Railways in comparison to Sambalpur.
The train will still serve the city albeit it will stop at sambalpur city halt.there are many examples in the past that it has been done. The sole garib rath train in secr bypasses zonal hq bilaspur and goes through usalapur to avoid lr.abkp durg exp was also diverted earlier. Well am not personally advocating any thing, just citing examples from.past. and it all depends upon ecor that how fast it completes electrification process.
Bypassed or not this still a very good train averaging 54 km speed despite so many halts. (except the avg cleanliness) and personally prefer it while going to delhi from bsp
This aggressive schedule specially between SBP-BSP makes it sometimes delayed while arriving BSP (45min to 1hr delay).
If JSG bypassing is done, then i think some slack can be provided.
ECoR won't bypass this train from SBP.

ECoR is giving ELoco for mere Puri to Talcher journey for Puri Durg Express, but this train is running with Diesel Loco all the way from VSKP to Talcher Fully electrified stretch.
People who wish to take this train from Balasore/Kharagpur to Delhi (Never opt this train,still if having NO other option) , and getting Regret status , then book Bhadrak to New Delhi and Change your Boarding Point to Balasore/Kharagpur (Whichever is your boarding station).
Balasore is Charting station for this train and BLS & KGP are under RLWL , whereas BHC is under GNWL , thus having more chance to get confirm seats.
I have booked this train ticket (PRS) from Kharagpur to New Delhi for 21st Jan 2017, & yes it is under RNWL 28 at present, how can I change it from Bhadrak?
You can not.
You have booked a Ticket From KGP to NDLS, then you cannot change its boarding from a previous station.
Only option is Cancel this ticket and Re-book for Bhadrak to New Delhi by paying extra money and change the boarding station to Kharagpur.
There are total 4 Pf.
Pf 1: Its the Pf which is at the entry building and the main exit gate from here only. Intercity trains Baghajatin passenger (both up-down), Dhauli express (Puri bound) and BGY BBS express (BBS bound) comes on this Pf. This also acts as a loop line for freight or other train, which are to be overtaken by some other train.
Pf 2: Its NOT an island type Pf. All the main administrative and commercial offices like GRP-RPF station, Postoffice , Parcel booking , Waiting halls etc are present
Sangrami skips BLS but BBS rajdhani halts in BLS...
BBS rajdhani halts here because after Cuttack, its the biggest city before West Bengal and a great money earner for ECoR.
Rajdhani is halting here from its 1st run itself.
Sangrami is a SR train , so SER can't interfere for halts.
But still its a huge secret why only Sangrami and HWH SSPN doesn't halt here, whereas rest every non-duranto train halts here.
And also I dnt know why many premium express trains and AC premium express trains which halt at BHC don't halt at BLS ?? I think it might b due to lack of platforms or these trains don't hv dat mch demand frm BLS.
Pf constraints are present. Up and Down Platforms have No Loop line. Direct Mainline is there for Pf 2 and 3.
Thats why they dont give halt for some Special trains like SRC ERS special.
But majorly all the regular express train halt here.
Sangrami , SSPN SF and KYQ PURI are exception.
Sir, by the way I was going thru some of ur older blog posts about Purushottam exp dated back to Mar/Apr 2016 but those r archived. So I wanted to ask u that now which loco is Purushottam getting ?? In KGP-PURI sec and in KGP-NDLS sec ?
Its getting SRC or VSKP WAP 4 as regular...Rarely once in a month its getting GZB WAP 7.

And I think same is the case with BBS rajdhani... rarely getting WAP-7 of GZB or TKD and regularly getting SRC or MGS WAP-4.. i m not getting whether WAP-4 is given to it from KGP or NDLS..
BBS Rajdhani gets an End to End WAP 7. Personally seen the same WHite stallion getting reversed and attached to Rajdhani at KGP.
But Purushottam gets a separate WAP 4 Loco from KGP to Puri and vice versa.

I think the official link is WAP-4 from Puri to KGP n vice versa coz in this site the same loco link is mentioned for 12801 though for 12802 it shows WAP-7 GZB end to end. i dnt knw the reason bt for last 3-4 weeks i.e since Ganesh chaturthi BBS Raj is mostly(for 5 days a week) seen with WAP-4 of diff sheds like SRC, BRC,MGS, CNB at Balasore. One of the members of IRI said tht it was due to the shortage of wap7 loco pilots as they are undergoing training and most of the imp trains(with loco link WAP7 GZB) are given WAP-4 as offlink. this Thursday 22824 was seen with HWH WAP-7. All these things are quite confusing

Semane tah debe... kahinki naa they are jealous of ECor....they can't tolerate an ECoR train getting WAP-7 regularly... KGP officials r "paidaaishi kuttas (Dogs by birth)" u know...I suspect that even if NR gives WAP-7 regularly to BBS raj, the SER Rly kuttas of KGP give WAP4 sometimes to this Rajdhani exp upto BBS rather than giving WAP7 .

SER KGP authorities are dogs as they are kaminaas and ECoR authorities are donkeys and some are snails as they are much lazy.. the two railway zones have combinedly ruined the state of railway in Odisha... Balasore is an imp city of Odisha but see its railway stn.... seems to b even smaller than BHC and JJKR... SER has ruined BLS but I hope ECoR (even though it's lazy) can improve this station
SER authorities are no different in West Bengal nor Jharkhand regions, they're same everywhere, they're just lazy as sloths & just they have their focus upon squeezing gullible passengers off their money by every possible ways!
This is the most punctual train between Howrah- Bhubaneswar, runs 6 days (except Sunday) a week. Most of time it reaches at Cuttack junction 5 to 15 minutes before its schedule arrival time. Its average speed is 65 km/hr (as per IR time table). This train was introduced to run from Bhadrak to Howrah and Howrah to Bhadrak in 2002-03 Rail budget and later on it extended upto Bhubaneswar. East Coast Railway has decided to run 12073/12074 Bhubaneswar -Howrah- Bhubaneswar Jan Shatabdi Express daily w.e.f. 3rd July 2016 instead of earlier six days in a week, with an aim to provide comfortable journey to the commuters.
