The Lodging facilities are not available at Amritsar Station. Even though Amritsar is mentioned in the List of Stations, the rooms are not available on entering the PNR for all the categories of Double/Single Room , Family Room, Dormitory Room. The message appears "No rooms available for slot/booking". Rooms should be provided at this station as this is a major tourist destination.
Did you visit the station and checked that NO RETIRING ROOMS available at all or Online booking isn't available??
No I am visiting next month and I am trying to book online rooms at Amritsar using my PNR, but no rooms are displayed not even Dormitory Room. Hence I wish to confirm whether rooms are available or not
When you do visit, Make sure you update the Tip and say whether they are available or not please
Sir what was the condition of retiring rooms? How can we book it?
I could not book the room through Online process and hence went for Hotel accommodation. My stay was for one day and I could not check the same at the station. In case some one else is travelling kindly confirm whether there are retiring rooms at Amritsar station.
There are retiring rooms at ASR and they are decent for the price they offer. I have stayed twice in these rooms. They arent shown online coz they are under renovation.
Food Tips in "Ambarsari Tadka'.
1. Never Ever Forget to enjoy the God's own grace Food in Langar provided in The Darbaar sahib (Golden Temple) premises.
2. Brothers Dhabba or Bhrawan Dhabba, are two nearly identical restaurants right next to each other near Town Hall. Both highly rated. Brothers' "Amritsari Kulcha" is to literally die for.
3. Kesar da Dhaba. Located near the Golden
Very elaborate & my mouth is watering by reading it!
Now, Really spoilt for choice as 1 would want to try out everything place that you mentioned especially, if he/she is a foodie xD
Great. Been to Amritsar twice but never got a chance to taste this food. Longing since the time that program " Highway on my plate" showed all this Amritsari food. Have tasted the offering at the Temple though.
Amritsar is most popular as the home to the most famous Sikh shrine, the Golden Temple (In Local Language Its Darbaar Sahib). The holy city also houses other important religious sites like Akal Takht, Ram Tirth are a few one must visit.
Places of historical importance too can be found in Amritsar. Jallianwala Bagh, Central Sikh Museum and Wagah Border are some places one must not miss in Amritsar.
Now Individual people can have there own itinerary, but i would still provide the best one to cover all these places in Just 1
I will visit the temple first time?? What is the procedure of Puja & which side ?? Shoes keeping point must be there .
Just outside the Main Entrance, Left hand side, there is a separate area for keeping shoes. Its free of cost. You just have to submit the shoes at the counter.
Its not a TEMPLE. Its a Gurudwara. So the theory of doing "Puja" is not possible.
You have to go inside the compound, and then join in the queue for entering into the main darbaar which is in the middle of the sarovar (the golden color).
Lots of Thanks for clearing my doubts..
Myself Couple Of Months Back During My Parents' Visit At Amritsar
Its Wagah Border retreating Parade. :)
A must go to place at evening time after visiting Golden temple at afternoon time.
How to reach Wagah border from ASR ?
I have in detail explained the standard itinerary here. /blog/post/1811407
Kindly read it up fully. All your doubts will be replied.
Is mobile phone allowed at Golden Temple & Jaliawala nag ?
Small size is ok.
But if its medium or large size, then a big no considering the huge crowd.
Free Bus Service to Harmandir Sahib "Golden Temple" from Railway station available outside main entry near to Army Vehicle Parking.
Does this station has only one gate for exit ?? Is bus available from Pf#1 side ?
The Harmandir Sahib (Punjabi: ਹਰਿਮੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ), also Darbar Sahib (Punjabi: ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ] and informally referred to as the "Golden Temple",is a prominent Sikh Gurdwara located in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, India.People can reach by any means of transport. There is a free bus service also from the amritsar railway station to the Golden temple
some lines...and some lines are mines
There are two exits from the railway station. One is the main exit that is on Pf 1 and another one is by the FOB which connects Pf 1 to 6 open up outside the Pf 6. But this side is bit dirty and risky to go in night time. Pf 6 side open up on the road which caters the maximum of transport companies and also the regional office of SAI (Sports Authority of India) on this road. Even though this road connects quickly with the hall gate but if new to amritsar and with family, then opt the main exit only.
The main exit on Pf 1 opens up to the vibrant GT road. If with luggage, then take auto/cab
bhai agar subah ayoge toh thk h pf6 se niklna otherwise hamesha hi pf 1 se aana because pf 1 is safer than pf6 aur jo apne kaha ki free service ka golden temple ke liye woh bekar ha un logo ke liye jinke pass time nahi ha kyuki free service ka maza uthane ke liye 2 to 3 hrs que me raho uska koi fyada nahi.
Thats right. At night time this side is bit unsafe. Byt at day time this pf 6 exit saves huge amount time for reaching hall bazar.
aur free sewa hai veere, demand toh bahut rehti hai iss bus service ki.
