hoooooooh!!!!! Reached Dhanbad sharp at 11:01 a.m. (10 minutes early)
Anyhow i just managed to catch this train which was 1 minute early at Durgapur station.
This train is one of the most punctual trains of India...... i travelled in this train several times and i never saw it getting late more then 20 minutes.
Very popular train between Howrah and Dhanbad... it used to run with Non-AC DD Coaches some decades back. I feel that it's timings are something that make the train an attractive option for Inter City Chair Car travel apart from the Howrah - Ranchi Shatabdi. ER should LHBfy this train by replacing this ICF Rake with some single decker LHB coaches (both Non-AC and AC) + some LHB double decker coaches from the old LHB AC DD Rake that is languishing in the Howrah Rail Yard :-)
ER was not getting any zone which would purchase the Howrah-Dhanbad DD Express.........so a number of coaches can be utilised here.

one of the most majestic trains of ER, very punctual and runs both UP/DOWN on a single rake.
Just for information to all members - 22387/8 Black Diamond SF express is an ECR train & not ER. ECR has recently asked Railway Board for LHB coaches for this train. They expect to receive this rake shortly. If LHB fied this train will be the first Intercity service to have LHB rake in the eastern zone. The only drawback will be - this train is always overcrowded & if there is no middle doors then there will be chaotic scenes at intermediate staions. Hope the LHB ICE rakes are provided with the middle doors for the convenience of the passengers.
2s has no middle door..but GEN of LHB have middle doors
If You are going towards Bankura,Mednipur,Purulia districts try to take SBSTC Buses because the have negligible stops in comparision to Pvt buses. Buses For TATA ,Bokaro etc are well and good whether of SBSTC or Pvt.
Taxi AC /Non AC is always a better option.
SBSTC buses have negligible stoppages... Premium Express versions of buses ? ;-)
Yes for example...Private Buses to BQA stops on such stops that I also dont even know but SBSTC being Govt Bus stops at Barjora and Beliatore or just Barjora. But also there are Three versions of pvt buses Express,Super,Mini. You can avail Super. But buses to far places like Tata have limited stops in any way.

This is one of the 2 escalators at Platform no. 1......the other one being at Platform no. 4.
Being covered is important for our bodies and infrastructure since exposed inner structures don't look good. The cover resembles the platform shelter roof (traditional blue n white detergent powder livery)... look at the unbarricaded tracks.... nice snap :-)

this type of escalators are under construction at Asansol Junction too.
Durgapur does not actually need these....waste of money.

It now owns the country's first Private Airport maintained by Pvt Authority and you say that the station should not get an escalator.....
