I have seen many people complaining about the LTT station. I personally feel that it is a very good station but only if you know some things about LTT.
1) If you stay far away from LTT, then please book MERU cab or any other cab online. Never take a cab/auto from the cabs/autos waiting at the stations, they demand ridiculously high fares for even the shortest distances. You can altenately go outside the station inside Tilaknagar where you may get a cab/auto which charges normal fare.
2) If your train reaches LTT
I agree with you, Ltt is a good stn. but not the surrounding area, the approach road to Tilak nagar stn is in bad shape.
Ladies & Families pl avoid Ltt & Tilak nagar after dark, instead get down at Thane stn
Ronnie can i board 15017 from ltt with my family is it will be safe?
Thanx for the valuable Data.
kurla stn se ltt jane per auto ricksha wale se baat kar jana chahiya nahi tab woh aap se kutch bhi mang sakte ha
Ltt around 6am no problem, provided you come by auto/cab. Alternately you can board the train at Thane.
Ronnie i am comming to LTT by train from Pune to catch 15017
That's good, should not face any problem, its safe inside the station. There is newly opened waiting hall in the new bldg
brother can you please tell me where are the retiring rooms at CSTM.
Retiring Rooms are available at Cstm, Mumbai Central, Ltt, Bandra. At Cstm I am not sure where it is, but I have heard that the furniture there is quite old, Ltt & bandra is not suitable for families because of the surrounding area
brother if i had booked a retiring room then which person should i have to report ?
There is a Caretaker at the entrance of Retiring rooms, Carry your own padlock for safety reason
do i have to take print out of booking slip with me?
Now all the approach roads to LTT as well as Tilaknagar are in a good shape.
All thanks to Rail Minister coming to LTT for inauguration of LTT - Tatanagar Antyodaya, or else the roads would have never been repaired.
Facilities at LTT station.
Retiring Rooms for Ladies and Gents one each ? शयनगृह means retiring room ?
In fact Indian Language is lacking certain words which are originated only in West.
"Retiring" means 'निवृति" : now whether you retire from job, or from day work... has to have specified defined words.... Retired from services means "सेवा निवृत"
now if retiring room is applied hindi meaning it
It is definately funny, but officials have to consider using a word which would convey the proper meaning of the facility being provided. In this case, शयनगृह was more appropriate word to use as Retiring rooms are meant for taking rest/sleeping.
Washrooms are sometimes referred to as Restrooms in English, that does not mean one has to literally take a rest there :P
Rail WiFi available at LTT from July 2016 (I'd tried it on 29/07/16).
Unfortunately i always have to go to this station as the Secunderabad Duronto arrives/departs from this station.
Some of the tips for first timers visiting this station:
1) It is one of the worst railway stations on the Indian Railways.
2) Precisely, LTT is not connected to Mumbai Suburban train services directly.
Thanks for you valuable tip sir, but boarding from unscheduled halt is very risky compared to when alighting from train...
U got me wrong sir.
I said that board from thane only if your train has a scheduled halt there.
My Dear Vivek sir, you have mentioned only good thing about this station is prepaid taxi stand, it is my experience the prepaid taxi driver would crib over the fare once the destination is reached, "Saab we have stayed in the prepaid taxi que for 10 hours........"
You should never pay extra, be it prepaid or normal taxis. It is completely on you whether you want to tip the driver or not.
They are not entitled to demand extra cash. When you feel the situation is out of control, just threaten them that you would call the RTO helpline and he would silently leave.
Yes Vivek thats true, after a tiring journey do you really want to argue with the cab drivers
Then there is no alternative sir.
That's a problem you are ought to face in Mumbai when you are using rickshaw or taxi.
You may book a meru or some other radio cabs but the cost would go up.
sahi me bahut problem ha ltt me klock room me laggase rakhne ke liye luggase per 1 no platform se security chake kara kar lana pada jo 1 km distance per ha aur kurla stn se auto rikshaw me per passenger 20 rs liya passenger 6 the bahut jyada ha 120 total laga
The taxis and rickshaw's in mumbai are better compared to other cities, the problem is only the airport taxi and railway station taxi, they are the ones who really disturb the passengers, i had commuted in mumbai for around 25 years in taxi, i did not face any problems except as mentioned the railway station and the airport guys
If you look closely, that was what the tip said.
Dont take auto ride to reach Kurla Station, specially in morning 6am to 8am time. the level crossing between Tilak Nagar Station and Kurla is sometimes closed for 30-45 mins in a stretch to accommodation smooth passage of local trains.
Instead take a local train from Tilak Nagar Station which right next to Lokmanyatilak Terminus Station, it is barely 40 meters walk from LTT station.
post more about ltt station . i would be going there this dec :)
no no, from tilak nagar the locals are not heavily crowded in the given time. you can get in with a little tussle at max.
Between 6 to 8 A.m not much rush on harbour route, one can easily get in the train with luggage & getdown at Kurla..
