Pushpak is a very good train to travel in ,only thing is that there is scope to reduce journey hours at least by 2 hours which could easily be done by accelerating its speed and at the same time reducing its stoppages from 15 to 8.At least Unnao,Habibganj and Itarsi could be done away with.
In fact apart from Pushpak a duranto is the need of the hour to have between Mumbai and Lucknow. will authorities take a note of this ?

my friend it does not depends upon engine that much it depend how the route is as you can see bhopal to delhi and bomay to delhi is the luxorious route and there are some speed restriction on every route.

I guess all the trains use almost same kind of engines. The speed of any train is determined by the status of train (superfast or passenger). The duronots dont have any special engines. They get the clear signals and permission to go that fast. thats it. i hope so.

yes you are correct to some extend that the first preference is given to duronto,rajdhani, shatabdi and after thar mail/exp and then passengers. but you can't run any train at speed at any route there are some speed restriction. the routes are divided into several categories such as bombay-delhi A class route and howrah-delhi a class route where the train covers the long distance in a very less time.

General quota is seats available for reservation to passengers after total seats - capacity of number of passengers - are reduced by various specific quotas including Tatkal quotas.
In comparision to Genral quota tickets, under Tatkal quota tickets - extra Tatkal charges are levied apart from Normal Train Fare.
General quota tickets booking opens 90 days in advance whereas Tatkal booking opens 2 days in advance.

It's not like that a sup. fast train must not stop at two places in a city.......Rajdhani going out of Mumbai does stop at another station like-Andheri or so. Even Pushpak stops only at Dadar before CST.Moreover Pushpak "type" trains are on first priority on Indian Railway's Chart ....at par with Rajdhanis.......

i am not hearting your view, but you can not compare mumbai to bhopal. population of bhopal may be 1/15 of the mumbai. secondaly population distribution (density)near arround mumbai is some what same arroung the 50 kms diameter.

It is really very pathetic to know that this most important train btw. ljn & cst has only 4 A.C. coaches and abt. 13 sleeper coaches. It becomes really very hard to get a resveration in A.C. coaches even one month prior to your journey.2229/2230 Lucknow Mail has 10 a.c. coaches.....Railways must increase the A.C. coaches at least to 6 .......

The sleeper coaches are equally packed and there also passegners who have to face booking difficulties.
You are demanding, may be for your convenience, more AC coaches just to satisfy your limited purpose.
Think of Non-AC class passengers and realise that much much more hassles they find in booking the tickets.
So your suggestion creates problem for Non-AC passengres and hence this is just shifting of a problem from one shoulder to another.

One has to be of compromising attitude.

at least it has 4 ac coahces. to my horror i found only 2 ac coaches in himgiri exp which is the only decent train from howrah to jammu. (WL 1,2 didnt get confirmed in 1.5 months)

My dear !even 2107/2108 Lucknow Sup. Express does not stop at Orai,Unnao,Habibganj and even Itarsi !! Increasing the stopagges would only make this train a bullock cart...exactly like Gomti Express.

yah..i travelled by it in 2005..at tat time it stopped only at ..kalyan,manmad,bhusaval,khandwa,bhopal,jhansi,kanpur and lucknow..nw 3-4 stops hav been increased...and in future i fear it might b dropped dwn 2 at the most 10-12 most stops..plz do sumthing..its a prestigious train...and pride also...

Indian railways isn't running only for your convenience, there are other people as well who get down at orai and other small stations. BTW hardly stops there for 4-5 minutes, Iam sure that's point of bother for you.

while doing e-reservation can I get a ticket with extended station i.e I need reservation from Delhi to Itarsi but ticket upto Khandwa station. Currently its possible from window reservation, but is it possible from e-ticketing.? IF yes then how to book it.

I am surprised how with in two minutes reservation becomes full. Even if all booking counters start at 8:00 AM in that case also reservation can not be full with in 2 minutes. Railways should check what malpractice behind reservation booking is going on. Agents can make available any time reservation by paying heavy extra payments,where as general public can not get the reservation even before 90 days & just after booking starts.
Wheather railways itself is backing & supporting agents so that booking officer can generate extra income.

u r right, trains are there for general public, and common man has to pay extra for the tickets just bcoz of these agents. railway deptt. is doing injustice to us by showing carelessness in this manner. these agents sud be strictly handled and booking tickets via internet must be made more precise and strict. its high time we r suffering, malpractice of these agents sud be brought to halt now. general public harassement sud come to an end as every body is not rich to buy tickets from agents by paying extra and these agents and railway officials r simply filling their pockets by common middle class money. shame!

it never goes 2 114...all trains(express trains can go only up2 110lm/hr...which every train goes..including non-superfasts..wat matters is avg speed which is reduced due 2 dis stops....1 day it'd b like chattisgarh express..which in 1970s didnt stoppede at jhansi..and nw its alomst a passenger

Food served in Pushpak is although good but some more items can also be served like IDLI, Fruits and Milk for children. It helps a lot to the passangers.

Pl try to understand that it is not possible to stock/serve different kinds of eatables as there are diverse wishes. you can get a variety of eatables in the platforms where the train stops. Fruits, again cant be stored as if not sold, will be spoiled and caterer will be in a loss. fruitwallahs are available in platforms. Milk can be got from inside the train pc during journey on request and payment.

Moderator, I have also verified the timetable from trainenquiry.com. It does stops at Itarsi Junction (ET); arrival being 7:45 AM and departure is 7:50 AM. Please do include the same.

a passenger booking 90 days in advance gets alloted a side upper berth by the Indian Railways.
A passenger alloted a reservation on the day of the journey under DRM/Ministers/VIP quota gets a plush lower berth in the compartment.
This is most unfortunate and arbitrary.
That is the main reason Railways are losing passengers to Airlines since you can book 6 months in advance and get a discounted fare.
Secondly the Railways do not care for passenger comfort since they allow waitlisted passengers to travel in the reserved coaches by paying a penalty,
As a result a coach designed for 64 passengers carries as much as 80 passengers!

यह ट्रेन बहुत अच्छी है, इस ट्रेन का ३एसी कोच नया और साफ़ है पर अब इस ट्रेन के स्टाप ज्यादा हो रहे है मुंबई से लखनऊ आने वाली पुष्पक एक्सप्रेस कानपूर से पहले हमेशा लेट करा दी जाती है इस पर ध्यान देने की जरूरत है

Have travelled in this train on lot of ocassions between Mumbai & Kanpur. It cantains new coaches with yellow & brown interior in ac & shinny blue in sleeper. Train is very clean & provides good pantry car facility with tasty food & proper hygiene.:-)..

It is the best train between lucknow & mumbai but there only 4 ac coaches , and the demand for ac coaches is more specially ac3tier as they always full & most of the time we get waiting ticket & unwillingly we have to opt for a sleeper class
