No offense!! But cannot take misguided info..
WAP 5 is the name of a class of electric locomotive used by Indian Railways. The first 10 locos were imported from ABB in Switzerland in 1995.
It was designed to haul 18 coach passenger trains at 160 km/h. It is the first 3-phase loco in India. Other notable features of this loco are the provision of taps from the main loco transformers for hotel load, pantry loads, flexible gear coupling, wheel-mounted disc brakes, and a potential for speed enhancement to 200 km/h. 88 tonnes weight. Braking systems include regenerative braking (160kN), loco disc brakes, automatic train air brakes, and a charged spring parking brake. MU operation possible with a maximum of two locos.
WAP 7 is a high speed locomotive indigenously developed by Chittaranjan Locomotive Works. It is capable of hauling trains at speeds ranging between 140 and 160 km per hour and is now largely used by Northern Railways and South Central Railways(SCR).With a maximum speed rating of 130 km/h, the WAP-7 boasts of the most phenomenal acceleration figures while hauling mail/express trains. The WAP7 can also haul loads of 24-26 passenger coaches (1430-1550 t) at 110+ km/h per hour. It is also known to haul 16 heavyweight Air Conditioned coaches (1120t) in 1:40 inclines single-handedly. At a trial conducted by Indian Railways, it clocked a speed of 169.5 km/h. It is the most successful passenger locomotive in the Indian Railways portfolio after the WAP4.
A 24-coach (1430t) passenger rake can be accelerated to 110km/h in 240 seconds (over 4.7km) by a WAP-7; to 120km/h in 304 sec. (6.7km); and to 130km/h in 394 sec. (9.9km).

WAP7 is used for long trains with good speed and has got excellent acceleration.
WAP5 is used to haul shorter trains at great speeds but has less acceleration compared to WAP7.
WAP5 is faster than WAP7 but has less acceleration.
Thats why you can see shatabdhis being hauled by WAP5 regularly but WAP7 is used for Rajdhanis.

And it is known that WAP-5 takes lesser time than WAP-4 to accelerate, even with heavier rakes.

@XEROX X:
PQ is end to end (first station to last station) quota used to allot short destination passengers to preserve the interest of long distance passengers.
.
For example in 6339 Mumbai-Nagercoil Exp:
(1) Anyone wanting to travel from Mumbai(/Dadar/Kalyan/Karjat/Lonavala) beyond the last quota station and upto Erode are provided accommodation in PQ only.
(2) Anyone wanting to travel from Mumbai to last Remote location quota station is provided accommodation in that quota.
(3) Does this mean that the end to end passengers (Mumbai to Madurai/Nagercoil) have to shell out their berths for the PQ passengers? The answer is NO, because for them even the PQ is used for allotting berths during booking, if at all the GN quota gets filled up. Hence for them it is advantageous to have a PQ, so that they can keep the short distance passengers restricted to that quota , but still utilize it if the long distance (GN quota) gets filled up.
(4) Passengers boarding from Pune/Solapur etc are also provided accommodation in PQ during booking, if their own remote location quota is filled up.
.
Disclaimer : The quota system in 6339 was like this when I last travelled. It may have been changed, but this is explained as a concept.
.
The quota (1 or more) to allot for a particular source-destination combination is selected by the system only, based on the configuration for that train. The booking staff does not have any control on it.
.
The only way to avoid PQWL is try booking ticket till such a station for which tickets are alloted from GN quota.

The train under which you have written (2434) is between MAS & NDLS which does not in any way go to Kanpur. If you require information regarding particular train, choose train no. and ask questions.
Regarding Kanpur, due to remodelling of Signalling some trains have been diverted/cancelled/diverted. Check up with 139 before boarding train and also the local paper of today - North Central Rly has given ads in newspapers - Hindi & English and also website -www.ncr.railnet.gov.in
for more informations.
Thanks.

Do you think that WAP-7 would be capable enough to pull Tamil Nadu and GT Express trains? (Tell me whether there is any probability of break down of WAP-7).

Why 4? it can run 6 days a week. The remaining one day is for Garibrath. IS it OK?

except for seasonal occupation, it has got less patronage even at this level. no need for increasing the frequency.
instead garib rath's frequency may be increasedto 3 or 4days where people can travel in ac with less payment. people will get more value in garib rath.
another train tn sampark kranti express's frequency can also be increased so that the rush on tn/gt exp will be distributed.

i agree with you. food is bad in most Rajdhanis these days. Private caterers are making a lot of money serving substandard food at huge cost (which is covered by the ticket price).
