Congratulations to the queen. earnest request to the pravasi sanghs of both pune and mumbai to press for decreasing the running time to 2:45 mins. That was the original schedule of the train and the 10:30am arrival at mumbai is still late for many office goers. the train was run at 105 kmp for 6 days last year on a trial and it clocked 2:40 mins for the run. So it is possible. if railways want to cope up with the expressways in the mumbai pune area, then they have to wake up and ensure that most of the mumbai pune trains are compitative.

Glad to hear about the Queen celebrating her 80 years run. She must be young even today. I had the privilege to enjoy the journey on Deccan Queen from Victoria Terminus (CST now) to Poona (Pune) about 35 years ago with my wife and 4 years old daughter for a weekend sojourn. It was one of the most pleasant trip I am still nostalgic about and so is my wife. Everything was simply charming about the decor, journey including the food and the service. In those days there were no Rajdhani Exp. or Geetanjali. Deccan Queen used to be among the best in India. I hope that the age has not withered her and she is still as young, beautiful and attractive as when I first saw her in 1974. - Basu Thakur, Kolkata-
