In certain trains, there are quotas for Borivali whereas the train originates from Mumbai Central / BDTS/ Dadar Mid Town. How the WL proceeds in such situations ?
You may provide offcial link, if any, for the purpose of info and detailed procedure of IR in so far as confirmation system and mainly to re-confirm for NZM-BDTS and NZM-BVI.

Plz keep patience. There are definite chances of confirmation. For Tatkal also, you have to wait till 2.5.2010. By the time tatkal opens, you will find your ticket status - confirmed.

Yes, this is the rule of railways. If you had bboked same ticket from BDTS to NZM with boarding at BVI and later wanted to change it to BRC, then it is allowed. But in your case, change in boarding is not allowed even though you have paid full fare. Only alternative is to book another ticket from Borivali to Vadodara in same train.

This is the relevant content from IR website
CHANGE OF BOARDING POINT :- If a passenger desires to occupy reserved accommodation from any station enroute, he would be permitted to entrain at any intermediate station he chooses irrespective of the distance from the starting station subject to the following conditions :-
1. A specific request must be made in writing at the station from where the ticket is purchased and reservation made atleast 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train from the starting station.
2. The Railway Administration reserves the right to use such accommodation from the originating station up to the station at which the passenger is due to entrain.
3. No refund will be permissible for the portion of journey not performed by the passenger.
Now as this says the passenger may entrain from Any intermediate station irrespective of the distance from the starting station but it is not very clear whether the starting station and Intermediate station is for the specific passenger or for the train .
If they are for the train this change can be done but if it is for the passenger in question it can not be done.

Although its just 19 km between BDTS & BVI but still there is a small risk in doing that because as per rules if the TTE will not find the passenger on his/her respective seats then the berths may be alloted to any wait listed passenger in the Que.
So It is advised to you must change your boarding point from any near by reservation counter.

1. You have ticket from Bandra but boarding point as Borivali.
2. You have ticket as well as boarding point being Borivali.
I regret to inform you that in both the situations, you can not board from Bandra T. In first situation, it is expressly disallowed by Railways and in the secon situation, it is implied.
Yet, if the first situations exists, to to a PRS till more than 24 Hrs. remain in departure from Bandra and request a Supervisor to change from BVI to BDTS.

I apologies for my posting at 05:17 pm,I was not intended to give wrong information but just read the blog again after posting.
You have ticket with boarding point as BVI & now you want to board from BDTS which is one stop prior to your boarding point.
1) You have ticket which may be booked form BVI and boarding point BVI in this case you cant change the boarding point to BDTS because the boarding point should be on the route between your journey stations(I mean it should be between BVI & NZM).
2) You have the ticket which may be booked from BDTS but boarding point as BVI and again you cant change the boarding point because if you have this type of ticket you have changed boarding at the time of your booking and as per boarding change rules you can not change the boarding point again.
So with that ticket dont even board from BDTS other wise you will be considered as without ticket passenger between these two stations and charged as per extent railway rules(which will be normally very heavy amount).
So I will suggest you to board from BVI.

I just forget to check the train route before posting and realized it later and took this query as normal boarding change and replied according to it. Actually my intention was to reply the query as soon as possible because I have observed many times it will not be helpful to the blogger to post the required info after some time, because that time blogger may not be present at the site or may not come back later.
One more point I would like to raise if you the actual person who started the thread get benefit from the answer then at least he/she should reply so that we would be able to know that some one get benefited from our exercise.

To clarify in simple way. Boarding is at BVI. Train starts from BDTS> If the TTE checks, the passenger will have to pay the fare between BDTS-BVI.
1. There is no question of any other person travelling that sector on GR !!!!
2. Normally, on outbound trains which have stops enroute the TTE checks after the last boarding point of that Metro section.
There should be no problem at BDTS.. just inform the TTE why the change happened. Any excuse will do. However if called upon to pay, then, passenger will have to pay " fare with penalty between original boarding point to changed boarding point" which would be Rs 200 per ticket inclusive of all charges.
Upto the passenger to decide. He can go to the counter and get the boarding point changed, but he would have to pay the difference amount between the two stations !!

And Boarding Station cannot be changed as this facility is available only for the stations which fall after the original Boarding Point. Like for Example, in the case of 2928 Vadodara Express, if the ticket is from BCT to BRC, boarding can be changed to BVI; but if it is from BVI to BRC, the boarding station cant be one which is earlier viz, BCT

If for reasons of luggage etc., BDTS boarding is must, then any one can take out a ticket from BDTS to BVL and rest of the passengers can join at Borivali.

Sir, you are neither specifying the PNR number, nor specifying the starting and ending station stations. What WL gets confirmed depends on journey starting to ending station. If your ticket is from Bandra to Borivali, then 100% it will get confirmed, because many passengers board at Borivali, but use the Bandra quota.

Check the reservation status from New Delhi to Mumbai and even if in Wait List, also book extra ticket from New Delhi to Mumbai for better chances.
Cancel later on Mathura - Mumbai ticket and change the boarding point to Mahtura in Delhi-Mumbai ticket by approaching the PRS counter anytime but before 24 hrs of train departure.

Prediction of starting/arriving on right time on 21-Jan 2010 cant be done. Now due to fog, it is running late. today also rajdhanis of date is running 7.15 hrs behind schedule. So dont have tension about 21 jan now itself. look out on tv after 18-19 jan and you can know the position.
With the kind of fog whch is present now in delhi, tomorrow also the trains may not come on time. keep calm till 18-19 jan and blog. the position would be clearer by then.

tickets can be booked 90 days in advance. no senior citizen concession as the fares are less then a senior citizen fare. Peak season starts from the day schools holiday session. April to June are peak season from mum to delhi traffic. and May 10= June end for delhi-mumbai tickets. since delhi school opens in first week of July, rush towards Delhi wil be more. similarly if school starts in June in mumbai, rush towards mumbai will be more. if you have travel plans, make it appropriately in advance.
You can book through your nearest reservation counter or through internet in - www.irctc.co.in. if you have got a debit/credit card/internet log in and password, you can book through internet in the wbsite quoted. if none of the abov is with you, you can go to the nearest counter and book the tickets. You can also book through IRCTC authorised booking agents on payment of charges. Valid identity during travel is a must. for any other clarifications, pl let the bloggers know. thanks. wish you a safe and pleasant journey.

No body can predict the delay/on time arrival of trains on 3-1-10. Pl check with 139 before departure, since if fog condition persists, it may be delayed.

You have wrongly mentined Bombay CST. It does not start from Mumbai CST (actually CSTM) or Mumbai Central but departs from Bandra Terminus.

In fact all Garib Rath Trains have halt at Borivali while going from Mumbai to Nizamuddin / Delhi Sarai Rohilla (2909, 2216 and 2993A).
But in return journey, none of the GR Trains will stop at Borivali till 15.02.2010 and instead, will have halts at Vasai Road (BSR) and Andheri (ADH) (2910, 2215 and 2994A).

In fact, it is not a case of prediction. It has well been scheduled by the Railways and 2909, 2216, 2993A (all Garib Rath Trains leaving from Bandra, Mumbai towards either Nizamuddin or Delhi Sarai Rohilla) will stop at Borivali during the major consutrction work due to which halts of some trains are changed till 15.02.2010.
The reverse of these trains i.e. 2910, 2215 and 2994A will, however NOT halt at Borivali till 15th Feb., 2010 and instead - halt at Vasai Road as well as Andheri.

Just check; 2909, 2216 and 2993A will stop (these are outgoing Garib Rath Trains from Mumbai) at Borivali.
Yes, 2910, 2215 and 2994A will NOT stop (these are incoming Garib Rath Trains towards Mumbai) at Borivali.

There is a big mega block in operation at Borivali Station as a new platform 6A is under construction.
As a result this train and a couple of others will not halt at Borivali station till 15 Frb 2010

Yes, take the e-ticket and one id of one of the travelling passengers to the PRS counter with an application requesting for substitution of another name, which should show some common denominator, such as set of friends, colleagues, relatives. Normally it will be done. Good wishes.

recently i travelled in this train and found out of 14 AC 3 tier coaches only one coach had side middle berth.....rest all coaches were of 75 berths.

dont worry, your tkt is for jan. it will be confirmed before your journey.
since its rac, you can travel in train. for every 2 racs, yuo get one berth. whether it will be in same bogie, nobody can predict. it may happen or may not. you can still adjust with copassengers.
lastly, pl do not have tension from now onwards for your journey in jan. since its low rac no., it will be confirmed. relax and enjoy your journey.

if the ticket is waitlist e -ticket, you will be fined , if its a ticket taken from the counter or waitlist i-ticket, no one will stop you from boarding the train. u can travel by the train but with no seat/berth

In Garib Rath train there are two type of accomodations available
3A & CC
3A is Sleeper class, but bed rolls are not provided in it like other trains, these are available @ an extra cost of Rs 25
CC is sitting accomadation

BETTER TAKE YOUR OWN FOOD FOR SAFETY, CHAIR CAR IS NOT GOOD AS THE SEATS ARE NOT COMFORTABLE AT ALL.

as per budget provisions, train no.2993 jaipur gr is being extended till delhi (date not known may be in oct time table) so your suggestion of ahmedabad=delhi gr is already taken care by this extension of bdts jaipur train to delhi. watch out for the dates.

Mumbai- Jaipur GR via Ahemdabad is being extended to Delhi. Total BCT-NDLS route kms of extended train would be just 55 km more than main BCT-KOTA-MATHURA-NZM route. But journey time would be significantly more due to low capacity track. Extended GR would be useful for part journey between NDLS-JAIPUR-AHEMDABAD-BCT and less attractive for the entire NDLS-BCT route

i agree with u that Ac chair car three seating system is totally uncomfortable. And specially the seat no.1,2,3 and 4,5,6...i had suffer a lot while i had seat no.1.so i request to look to this matter for public comfort.Otherwise this train is superb in speed and comfort.

While the IR has long back included (costing of) Bed Rolls in all AC Sleeper Classes, Garib Rath has been spared from it.
Reason, it is for GARIBs and if they want further to save, bring required material from home.
Thus, the costing of Bed Roll is not inbuilt with the fare and hence a separate cost.

In Garib raths they have different configuration
Starts with 123 (3 berth cabin) and 3 side berths and 6 berth cabin and so on.....

u hv 2 pay extra for bedding and pillows in garib rath trains.
for food arrangement no idea as i have never travelled by any garib rath train.

berth no. 19 is lower ,
berth no. 21 is upper ,
berth no. 22 is lower &
berth no. 23 is middle

And all are in the same cabin.

Toilets are good.There is no pantry car provision in Garib Rath.They had make shift arrangments where in at important junctions collect the food at stations as per the advance bookings made in the train depending on timings of dinner or lunch.

The side middle berths in Garib Raths will never be removed.These coaches are specially designed with 78 berths in 3rd AC to provide at cheap fare to common people.

WL tickets are not permitted to travel in train. aap hindi mein be yeh sawaal poocha aur angrezi mein b. sab bashaon ke liye ek hi jawaab - safar nahi kar sakte.

well said. Wait list ticket cannot travel in reserved coaches. But, you can always travel in general compartment.

waitlist can be travel in sleeper classes k but if its e ticket then it will get cancel if its not confirm
