I guess they ask for preference of food while online booking so that the pantry people have a rough idea of the amount of food that they need to stock in the train. @Manish Panda: Feb 24 (12:34PM) It could also be due to the fact that they used to have an integrated ticket price (including food cost) when the JanShatabdis were started as a concept. These two are different trains. Shatabdi is having accomodation of CC(AC Chair Car) & 1A(AC Exe) while Jan Shatabdi is having accomodation of 2S(Sitting Non AC) & CC(AC Chair Car) moreover Shatabdi fare include the food amount served during the journey, while in Jan Shatabdi You have to pay extra for any other service. is food not included in jan shatabdi ticket fare??can anyone please clarify yup jan shatabdi's fare doesn't include food charges..... n jan shatabdi doesnt have pantry services also.... but janshatabdi fares are higher than normal trains also while booking eticket it asks for food option Is the food available in the train free of cost?? If you have selected for food option while booking and paid for the same then food will be provided free of cost for you.Make sure that you have paid for food by checking the fare on your ticket with fellow passangers or online.It should be more than normal fare.Then you can demand free food and if not served you can lodge a complant and apply for refund of the difference of fare. Food is provided in Jan Shatabdi, but it is NOT free. today (14/12/08) jan shatabdi express reached nashik road at 5.23pm Good train, usually on time, comfortable seating arrangment, good connectivity between Nasik and Mumbai and the timings as well are convienent. | 5 halts between Mumbai CST and AurangabadMake sure to visit the official site and double-check the timetable.
