Yes, your ticket will show your seat number in the chart. Or you can find out yourself by calling 139 and entering your PNR number which will tell you the coach number, seat number. Or you can try PNR status on this site itself. RAC means you have an assured seat at least. Check chart which is normally prepared 3-4 hrs before departure time. Good wishes.

Chances are less since you have a Pooled Quota Wait List for KOTA station. So, your chances of getting the ticket confirmed is only when BCT-KOTA passengers cancel their ticket.
You can also try BCT-SWM/MTJ or BCT-NZM. Although you might have to pay a little extra, but in the latter case (BCT-NZM), chances of getting confirmed in the general quota are higher even with a higher wait list. You can get down at KOTA even if your ticket is upto NZM. However, you cannot claim a refund for the untraveled portion in Rajdhani/Shatabdi.

Only when passengers who booked tickets from those quotas cancel, your waitlist on those tickets will move forward.

You got confired status ticket and so no reason to worry. Just go little early at Borivali and get the coach and seat numbers from there.
If you intend going to Mumbai Central, there is No need to go to Mumbai Central all the way for this purpose.

Irrespective of Mr Murli Dhar's reply, the answers are:
1) 2951 arrives in pl-4 generally. (exceptions are there)
2) You have to come towards pl-16 (Ajmeri Gate side) car parking to get a Metro connection to NOIDA.
3) Metro trains are not packed, (but rush will be there) - not in this route of NDLS-Noida because at 0830-0900, the rush is on the reverse side - i.e. NOIDA to NDLS.
4)There is no better and faster way to reach noida other than Metro.
Apart from all this - Metro clarification -
1) Buy a ticket to NOIDA , take the Metro going towards Central Sectt. side. Get down at the next station - Rajiv Chowk, and come up the stairs and take the Dwarka - NOIDA train. You have to change at Rajiv Chowk Station for going towards NOIDA. Pl be aware of that.

have you mentioned your boarding point as Borivali? Even if not, generally, TTE start checking after Borivali only as Andheri is also a stop nowadays, so no point in chekcing again and again. Once Borivali passes, they start their rounds that too after the passengers settle down. so dont worry.
In future, always mention your boarding point while booking tickets. if booking through irctc and system does not accept, after booking tickets,
contact local reser. counter/Station Master with valid ID proof for change of boarding point, atleast 24 hrs before schedule dep of train. thanks and have a nice journey.

Tickets may be checked even before Borivali but even when Boarding is BCT / BDTS, TTEs are made to wait till Borivali.
Thus, without having Boarding Point as BVI, no risk is there in Boarding from BVI.
It is evident from the chart of Waitlisted Passengers used to be put on Display there at Borivali. Names of all the Wait Listed Passengers having Boarding Points BCT, DDR, BDTS, ADH and BVI are included there.

The rule you are saying is followed practically but its not written any where that tte will wait at least 3 stations before allotting berth to wait listed passengers. As per rules if you are not found at your seat on checking then the tte will have authority to allot berth to other passenger so there is risk.
This trick works on most of the trains but still there is risk and also the above suggestion given by Mr Jain may be due to his personal experience.
Even I book tickets sometimes from BHS withouth changing the boarding point because I know the crew will change from Bhopal.
But this trick will not work in trains where the distance between two stations is large. For example consider Rajdhani or Smpark Kranti Exp which halts JHS before coming to BPL. This logic will not be applicable to these trains because there is approximate 4 hrs run between JHS & BPL.
This trick will be applicable only on shorter routes.

There is no rule as such for Vestibular (interconnected) trains. Yes, if not interconnected, it is a general practice that TTEs wait for the passengers till next stop + a few minutes (practice only). I have seen non-reported-vacant berths being alloted to RAC Passengers soon after 20 minutes of departure of the trains while only one sub-urban stop would have passed. In particualr trains / sectors, the practive may have been prevailing upon as is mentioned by your as well as Jitesh ji.
Yet, in Borivali, there is no risk as it is considered at par with all WR stations before it from Mumbai side (Mumbai Central, Dadar, Bandra Terminus and Andheri).

This trains cancellatiion depends on the arrival time of the bct-nzm (corresponding train). if the bct-nzm AK is delayed by over 20 hrs, this train will be cancelled due to non availability of rake.
First and foremost - nobody can predict as to how much fog will be there and visibility problems in the whole of north - not only in delhi. so keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best.
PS: Mumbai had dense fog about approx 3-4 yrs back and it came in tv/newspapers also.

it has a diff quota from bvi. i also tried but it was showing wl1 from bvi. instead i booked from the origin station and found 100+ seats vacant. there is a minor fare difference also.
2216 GR also has bvi quota. you can check it out. there may be other trains with quota which i hadnt chkd simply because, i got a ticket in one of these. there may be quota in other trains also.

This is a ploy by railways to extract more from people. Almost 70-80 passengers of this train board at Borivali but they are forced to book from Mumbai Central. Fare difference is Rs 25 in 3AC.It may not be much for an individual but the railways are gaining a lot.

You should board from Mumbai Central becoz if tte checks & not found you on you seat then he may allot your berth to other wait listed passenger. So there may be risk.
If you want to board from Borivali then you should get change the boarding pt from any prs counter, which you cant do now, becoz today all the counters will close at 2pm & also it should be get changed before 24 hrs of scheduled dep of train.

Though there is an extra coach of 3rd AC in the Rake today, W/L for NZM itself is at 117. Thus, if no cancellation of Mathura takes place in next one hour (or so) and the extra coach is consumed only for NZM, it may be difficult for getting confirmed. Yet, hope is there.
Wish that it gets confirmed and you undertake the journey with joy.

I had a fear about confirmation of these tickets. Regret to say that the same has been on Charting and tickets remain at the same level (W/L 2, 3, 4 and 5).

if this is the train you've written about, it stops for 2 mts in most of the stations and 10 & 18 mts in important places. 1 mt does not apply to this train.
abt ur question - you get into any coach and since the coaches are vestibuled, you can go to your proper place of berth from inside the train. if you know the coach no. the porter will be able to help you as to the correct location of stoppage of compartment. you kindly check with the porter at the station platform.

you can always look for your coach no after reaching the station, y before 1.5 hrs. nowadays mobile communication is also there and cheap. dial 139 after starting from your house and get to know the coach and berth nos. its easy in this period of communication.
even though there are guidelines for 4 hr chart preparation, as you say, rlys do not publish the chart before 2 hrs. preparation might be on full swing, but the whole lot has to be printed - which definitely takes time.
thnk of rlys plight also with so many trains, special, non special regular. pl bear with rlys.

dont worry this ticket will also be confirmed during chart preparation, even if not, she can adjust with the other three, the berth charges have to be paid to the tte who will give receipt for the berth charges. since she is wl1 she will be gettng pref over others. some berth may be available in train also as 'no show passenger or last minute cancellations'. so dont worry and trvl with other 3 confirmd persons.

no one can predict about the extra coach in any train, it depends on the zonal railway to add extra coach in rush seasons in major trains having high waitlist

I think u have 50 % chances of getting a confirmed seat because ur travelling time is just in the week of Diwali

Extra coach addition is not compulsory. WL 13 in 3 AC for 10-10 have a good chance of confirmation. RAC chances are much brighter.

There is less chance of extra coach addition in Mumbai Rajdhani, because it will slow down the train. Mumbai Rajdhani runs on a fast track with a powerful engine. It has 8 coaches (and not 9 or 10) for a reason. All these things are finely balanced to allow the train to complete 1400 kms in 17 hours. Extra coaches are usually added on to "Special" trains, because no one really cares about the reputation and punctuality of special trains.

yup buddy it has 2 cover 1377 kms in 17.15 hrs so the coaches doesn't matter for them

2 is the coach serial in a particular class.
7 is the berth no.
Your coach will normally be 3rd from the engine and your birth is lower - gallery side, 1st from the entry door.

usually, RLWL (remote location waiting list) moves slower than regular WL. Since your boarding point is Borivali (very close to CST), I wonder why they did not include it in regular wl. Anyhow, I think your chances are very good since you have 1 more week before departure. good luck.

When should i expect a change in the status? One guy told me that his ticket was WL5 for 3 months and didnt change at all. This worries me as I am on a really tight schedule.
If someone could shed some light on how fast the status changes I would be really obliged.

Rest assured, more food than you need. Actually, too much food. After a Rajdhani trip, I am sufficiently full to go without food for a whole day. However the quality of the food has deteriorated in recent years. I remember, 15 years back, Rajdhani food was equivalent to 5-star hotel food. Not so these days.

Jaise koi kaidi jail mein band ho. Staff is extremely rude. Only interested in tip. If you ask for something extra for e.g. you ask the coach attendant to bring a water bottle as the earlier bottle water is over, even when you are paying for the same, he will say that go to pantry car and get it. At the end of the trip these guys come with mouth refreshment in a tray to collect tip just as we go in a restaurant to eat food and in the end the waiter brings the bill and expects a tip. If you don't give tip then he will make such a bad face as if you are travelling free of cost. No radio is played on the journey even it is there. By radio I mean soft music, news etc. Sometimes it is played and sometimes not. Recently I had travelled from Mumbai to Mathura and it was announced that anyone (radio - when the train starts the recorded voice plays welcoming all the passengers and gives all the instructions) can buy things extra by paying money. But if you ask the reply is so frustrating that you feel like slapping that guy.

actually, you are able see the train blasting through stations - even Rajdhani. India is one of the few countries where you can still open the coach door, and feel the wind in your face from a moving train. In other countries, doors are shut tight, and you cannot open either door or window in a moving train.

GOOD TRAIN NOT TO WORRY

Lower berths are usually in demand, especially by senior citizens. however, I think upper berths are the best since you literally own it - no one will bother you there. Middle berths are the worst - tough luck.

If thr will be availability or if u request any fellow passenger to cooperate it will be possible , TTE will have no problem.Dont go for cancellation
