theoretically a superfast but practically does not run so fast...

Its a passenger train labelled as SF by railways to extract more money from passengers..

This is the fate of many SF trains...
when introduced, it has few halts, and works as SF only...
but then 'local leaders' come into play, demanding stoppages, which IR happily gives. So the SF deeps down to 'passenger' stage via 'express' in practice. But on paper it is SF and may be IR collects charges for that too. India is faced with such 'contradictory and self defeating situation' in many sectors...

As per it's TT, it runs..
~ as a fast Passenger between Islampur and Mughalsarai.
~ as SF between Mughalsarai and Kanpur
~ as a Express between Kanpur and New Delhi !

But in reality......
~ Runs as a freight ( Maal gaadi ) between Islampur - New Delhi.Halts here and there no proper timing, always runs late.

True... 12922 Flying Ranee... Initially was an Ordinary Express Train...
Now Its a SF... as initially it reached BCT at 10:20 and now at 10:10(Also to note, it took 10 Mins. extra as there was Double Line Between Virar and Borivali)...
It has 12 Intermediate Halts in 263 Kms Run... i.e. Average Halt at every 20 Kms.

It was SF since its inauguration!!

malwa has also many stops but it doesn't runs too late

Because Malwa is only labelled SF train. After its re-labeling nothing much done to its TT and has lots of slack time.

12402 / 12401 is a super-fast train.
12402 takes 17:45 hours to cover 1063 kms NDLS - IPR, which is quite good

It runs late not because it has stoppage but it do have 2 Rakes with less TAT!!
Further, NDLS-CNB Stretch is heavily congested which makes normal train (Rake & TAT) getting late!!

its a superfast train but due to heavy congestion on NDLS TO PNBE Track thats why it got delayed everyday almost 5 to 6 Hours. but if this trains without any congestion with its stoppage it will bang on time at its destination

3rd rake is there for the last 6 months, and 12402 is running late by 2-3 hours only

Yes Magadh is a clean and pretty maintained train...

no....from otside train is very cleaned and maintained but a couple of coaches are dirty in every rack.
Mostly last sleeper coach(Which is just before general) is remain in dirty conditions.
May be he have got seat in last coach becoz general coach pax also generaly attack on nearby sleeper coaches.

Yaar MGS is biggest railway Yard in India.Once it enjoyed the position of the largest railway marshalling yard of Asia.

Correct. Skipping MGS is very difficult for a train. It may be possible for trains originating from Patna and going towards BSB if it becomes difficult to handle the volume of traffic at MGS with limited platforms.

NO. As far as I know, TTE boards the train coming from BSB at MGS. Its like, TTE completes his duty till BSB but no TTE boards the train at BSB. The duty of TTE is from MGS onwards. This is what I have observed in 18104 , 12876 and 18610.

I have a solution on my mind..
1. The train should be diverted via Mb-Lko-Bsb and can start from Chandigarh instead of Delhi.
2. Provide an extra rake, at Chandigarh for maintenance.
3. Will start from Chandigarh at around 1630 hrs and reach IPR at 1430 hrs next day.
4. Will start from IPR at 2100 hrs and reach chandigarh at 1700 hrs next day..
5. The extra rake owing to large maintenance time can have RSA with a short distance overnight train, so that its utilised fully like Cdg-Agra or Cdg-Sgnr..

Waise 12393 sampoorna Kranti phir bhi apne aap ko maintain kar rahi, pichle kuch dino se sahi chal rahi hai.. Lets see jab Ald-Mgs me automatic signal ka installation ho jata hai to shayad ye phir se punctual ho jaye..

waise I feel situation can get better as at this moment none of the trains are running on time due to blocks.. One more option is there, they can have extra PFs, increase PFs from 6-10 or can have a separate terminal, where only those train which have Tech halts may go and also they can incorporate passenger trains originating teminating at Mgs from that terminal..

Toofan is good for nothing, in fact this will help passengers from the tormenting they face in toofan.. When I was in Bhatinda, I never preffered Toofan, in fact I used to come delhi in Dainik and take some other train for Patna and on most occasions it was Sampoorna Kranti, I felt there was a need for a better train than toofan for that area..

running 5.30hrs late..

Good news. It must run with 3 rakes instead of overburdening of 2 rakes

Extra rake was of some cancelled train and will be withdrawn in due course of time..

extra rake was allotted as Lichchhavi Express was canceled in FOG, Railway Board withdrawn that 3rd rake on 18th March 2013.
On request, Railway board has arranged for a 3rd rake again from 22nd March 2013. :)

Magadh sleeping on tracks........
yesterday 12402 is delayed by 20 hrs.
Yesterday 12401 is delayed by 15 hrs.
today 12401 delayed by 11 hrs.
today 12402 not started and definitly will start min. 10 hr late.
Update as 23:50 yesterday

One trip needs to be cancelled to get it back on time.

It was fine till 17 march.......
If it will happened again and again then better to decrease its frequency to 6 days from daily.

I think this train should run from Pataliputra.
As name is also related and it get more slack time

Since it was delayed over 12 hours TE understands it as reached earlier and shows in Green.
To replicate this issue with other train which are delayed by less time change you system Time Zone which has almost have 12 Hrs difference with IST. Thanks.

Don't U see any difference between Patliputra and Magadh?
It runs between IPR to NDLS and NDLS to IPR. There is no need to change anything there and will continue to run upto IPR in future.

With the help of 3rd rake, this is back on time now. No need to cancel any trip of this train.

Based on my request to the Railway Board, they have allotted a 3rd rake to Magadh Express now. It helps 12402 to depart on time from NDLS every night. It runs daily and will continue to run daily in future as well upto IPR :)

7th as per the info here...

Actually its delay started mainly after extension to Ipr.
This is a NR and not ECR train.
Nowadays it always gets delayed in its journey upto Mgs, which is the main line by at least 2-3 hrs.
It never runs on time in this section and after crossing Mgs it never covers time as is the case with other trains.
It has a gap of 2 hrs and 30 mins at Ipr for cleaning and routing back.

As it reaches Ipr late by 2-3 hrs which causes delay in departure.
After delayed departure from Ipr its schedule is disturbed and runs late till Cnb, though after Cnb it has time for covering up, but it trails Gomti past Kanpur which reaches after 2 PM at Ndls

When it reaches Ndls after 2 PM it is rescheduled by 2 hrs and the delay compounds in future runs and it becomes a regular laterunner till its cancelled once. And after cancellation the circle again starts.

Remedy.
1. Needs to be provided an extra rake, even if they extend it a little more, say upto Hisar or Ambala.
2. Train may be shifted to ECR and made an late night train, i.e. Starting at IPR at around 8 PM so that it never comes in the way of Rajdhani's passing through the main line.

When this train became NR train the Shramjeevi became ECR train in return.

OK, then not possible, but extra rake is an possibility after extension and TT change. But the controllers in Ald-Mgs section need to be tightened for better running..

Sahi baat hai, is section me sirf, Rajdhani/ Shatabdi/ Garib Rath aur Duranto trains ko hi preference milti hai, baki sab trains suffer karti hai.. Pata nahi kya problem hai waha, jise ki sudhara nahi jaa sakta.. aisa last 1 month me kai bar hua hai ki sampoorna Kranti before time Ald pahuchi hai, par Mgs pahuchate-Pahuchate 2 ghante late ho jaati hai.. Mai ab tak teen br greviance register kara chuka hu, par koi fayda nahi..
