18th april. got W/L 7. (on corramandel) I have to travel from CLT. thought of going by 12686. Found that it reaches only by 08.00am. thats why got confused
if u had book 12602 xps it would have reach mas 5.30 am , u would have 2-3 hrs in hand if train arrives late in mas , and more over coromndal xps will be in pf 9 from 3.30am - 8.45 am
rail site will be updated in 20 mins so i can suggest u alternate options !
CLT -MAS I have not bookd. if 12686 is not a sure option, then I will go for 12602.
Better to go for 12602 which sure safer option and you can refresh a bit at chennai before onward journey...

is it safe to travel in this train from maq to mas in SL. i am asking in the sense of crowd. will the SL coaches will be over crowded with general ticket passengers?
It is perfectly safe, unreserved crowd wont bother you, they got a passenger right behind this train :)

I plan to catch this train to Mangalore (arriving 0830) and change to the Yesvantpur - Karwar Express (departing 0900) to go to Karwar.

It generally is safe.. however the buffer is dicey. Todays arrival was at 8.30 AM at MAQ. Btw.. are you going to Kundapura / Kollur further?

Well.. Finally did this run leaving Chennai on 26th February. Train left MAS on time, had a fairly sedate run to Arakkonam (70 minutes). Arakkonam-Katpadi was a blistering run taking just about 40 minutes or so. Went to sleep a bit before Salem. Woke up in the morning to find that the power from Shoranur was a WDG4 (Don't know the number as my coach was 16th from engine). The train was a whole 20 minutes early and arrived at 0810. Coach could have been cleaned better but wasn't too bad and I didn't see a single cockroach. The CBC jerks however were terrible.
YPR-KAWR arrived at 0825 behind KJM's 18599 and left with ED's 11213. After Murdeshwar there were just 2 passengers in the 2A coach including me. The drivers were...
