distances and time consuming and also spending more ticket fare for the long distances. We do not have any direct daily evening train running between Kanniyakumari and Mangalore including Kerala’s Malabar region. Our student community have to go all the way to Thiruvananthapuram to board the Mangalore bound train. So we all request with all humbleness to extend the below train as explained, for the convenience of all students. Three daily overnight express trains ply between Mangalore and Trivandrum (Train Nos. 16347/16348, 16603/16604 and 16629/16630). Therefore it is submitted that the train no 16347/16348 now running between Mangalore and Trivandrum may be extended up to Kanyakumari. Therefore, it is kindly requested that necessary arrangements to be made to meet the huge public demand in order to operate the above mentioned train at the earliest to facilitate the student community. Stoppage: For the benefit of our college students this train required stoppages at Neyyattinkara, Parasala, Kulithurai ,Eraniel and Nagercoil Yours Muthaiyah Memorial Teacher Training Institute (For Women) Appicode, Tholayavattam Post, Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu. Details : Extension of trains is a policy matter to be decided by Railway Board. Presence of highly saturated single line section of Thiruvananthapuram – Nagercoil and saturated maintenance facilities at Nagercoil preclude extension of 16347/16348 Thiruvananthapuram – Mangalore Express to Kanniyakumari. In the Budget 2012, extension of Train No. 16649/16650 Mangalore – Thiruvananthapuram Parasuram Express to Nagercoil was announced which has been implemented with effect from 16.07.2012.
