Yea u can board the train at Thane TTE will have no issues. Dont worry he will not allot your berth to anyone as it takes only 20 minutes from LTT to Thane.

Esp in Mumbai.... No worries . Whenever I travelled to SUR, I used to book from Thane n board from KYN....
