No need to add AC SF (Full AC trains) and Specials to this list. Specials are Temporary trains and AC SF trains can be called "Premier" trains as they have got FULL AC Classes. Non-Premier should be tagged only to those having Non-AC class also in their composition. Also Suvidha category trains should not be added in this list. (You yourself have said"excluding Suvidha trains", then why adding them in list ?)

New Delhi to Kolkata Train Preference 1) 12302 NDLS-HWH Raj India's first Raj; the ER king is still the first priority for anyone travelling on this route; no questions asked. 2) 12314 NDLS-SDAH Raj ... more...
Taking largely the same route and same timings as the HWH Raj; there is not much difference between the two. Mostly an item of personal preference when booking. 3) 12260 SDAH Duronto India's first Duronto and theoretically taking lesser time any of the Rajdhanis,it still gets lesser priority than the Rajdhanis and may get delayed; still a good option for travelling[pure LHB coaches]. 4)12274 HWH Duronto First train on the list to also have SL coaches; has a good TT between NDLS and HWH, but suffering from lack of priority from controllers; also has hybrid -LHB instead of pure LHB. 5)12304/12382 Poorva Exp Tough choice between this and the legendary Kalka Mail; this wins because of LHB rakes and more punctuality than the Mail(also has better railfanning opportunities since it faces OT by all the east bound Rajdhanis). 6)12324 ANVT-HWH Exp Takes lesser time than the Poorva exp and runs with a better TT(morning arrival at Howrah); though lacks a PC(pantry car); maybe considered over the Poorva in some cases[LHB rakes as well]. 7)12312 Kalka Mail Historically the most important train running on this route; this train(used to run as 01 UP/02 DN) has been degraded by the IR in recent years; runs delayed very often. Has a good morning arrival at HWH though. 7)12250 ANVT-HWH Yuva exp A weekly train; on paper the fastest on the route; though not given high priority. Also the fact that it lacks a PC and has very low stoppages makes it worse[ICF rake and personally don't feel like travelling overnight in a chair car]. 8)12330 WB Sampark Kranti Exp Faster than either the Poorva or the Kalka Mail, but has a bad arrival time at Sealdah(evening arrival, may be a problem if it gets delayed too much). 9)13008 Toofan Exp One word, don't. There is no reason to travel by this train(especially end to end). Takes 36 hours to cover the distance; has a bad TT(evening arrival at Howrah and it will get delayed). Too many stoppages in between. 10)22858 ANVT-SRC Exp Originally ran as a special; later regularized as a weekly. Hugely delayed and goes via the longer TATA-KGP route; use it as a last resort. 11)13120 DLI-SDAH Exp A super crawler; taking a mammoth 41 hours to cover the distance; runs without a Pantry Car. 12)13132 ANVT-KOAA Exp Purchase a cycle and start cycling towards Calcutta. You'll reach there before this train. Taking 40 hours to cover the distance, still horribly delayed by 10+ hours, cancelled every other day, no pantry car[will possibly get LHB in 100 years].

Apr 17 2016 (2:39AM) See it evening arrival and average delayandadisaster,ohandnopantrycaraswell Trustme,havetravelled in this(backwhenitranasaspecial) and itwaspossiblythemosthorrendousjourneyI'vebeenthrough
The rake comes from SRC to ANVT and the same train goes after some time from ANVT; very less time it gets at ANVT, this creates delays while starting from source itself. See it evening arrival and average delay, it's quite bad. Though I do see merit in your argument, both trains are hugely delayed and lack pantry cars. 13008 actually takes way more longer. The only advantage is that HWH is easier to deboard at if one's train arrives at midnight.
And please once travel in SL class from kolkata to Delhi in Toofan express. Then you will feel heaven in 22858 , while onboard Toofan Express. Seems like you know nothing about our great "Crawling Legend" Toofan Express. LOL..
Obviously man , 13008 rightly deserves to be below 22858. Reasons: 1. Delhi to Kolkata , in 13008 I would be spending 36.30hrs (Adding delays it comes nearly 43-44hrs) , with "pathetic" 85 halts enroute. No pantry. No safety. No useful catering. And also arriving Howrah late night 1-2 am normally. 2. 22858 is better bcoz it takes mere 27.15hrs (Adding delays it... more...
comes out nearly 32-33hrs) with just 9 halts which is way better than Toofan Express. Pantry is not there , but still Catering Facility is present. Only glitch is its night arrival at SRC. But If it arrives SRC before 10 pm (which it generally does) , then transport are present for connectivity with Kolkata town. 22858 is not good for Connecting journey from Kolkata , but its surely Far more better than travelling Delhi to Kolkata & vice versa for a Local Kolkata inhabitant. Now tell me , for arriving at Howrah instead of SRC , are you ready to risk your safety and waste nearly 10-12 hrs extra in 13008 Toofan express?
Maintenance is still manageable , but the main problem is very less TAT at ANVT which causes the 22858 to start on time from ANVT. If RB somehow changes its Departure Timings from ANVT to be late in the evening, then it can surely be able to arrive SRC by night 10-11pm and they can also extend it to HWH as after 11pm , the SER side becomes bit vacant as all major night departure (like Mail,Azadhind,Puri trains etc) would have already left HWH.
The problem with late departure from ANVT is that the evening slot is too full on that route. In either case, IR would have to reschedule the train to late evening(after Rajdhani gang) to make it any sense to run.
Thats what i am saying....The departure could be made late evening or may be at night after the Purushottam departure from delhi. If departure is made about 11pm from ANVT , then its scheduled arrival time at SRC can be made 3-4 am (adding delays it could arrive SRC by 6-7 am morning) which is very brilliant.
These points are very useful for passengers from other parts of India who are traveling for the first time between Calcutta and New Delhi. Even foreign tourists can go through these points to get an actual idea (although many of them travel from Calcutta to Gaya, then Gaya to Varanasi, Varanasi to Allahabad, Allahabad to Mathura and then to New Delhi)... thanks :)

Lhb ke liye icf kaal. Sirf lhb mil jaane se priority nahi mil jaati hai. 12312 shunted it's another hwh counterpart in ald- mgs section. Lets see if 12324 iss beizzati ka badla ecr mein le paati hai ya nahi as 12324 has a non stop run till gaya and 12312 has 3 halts.

A SF must have avg speed over 55kmph. Today it covered 130 supported ALD-CNB in 7.5 hours at 25kmph. A 13 hour shift for LP and ALP in MGS-CNB (True courage to resist nature's call for 13 hours officially). 12323: click here

Subah ki saari train except Kalka mail & North East should be diverted.12817 12815,12323,12825,12819,22805. All of these have more or less two halts. Run one train as MGS-NDLS with halts for Daily passengers and detach two compartments (except LHB 12323) for ALD and CNB passengers add it to MGS-NDLS
Train nos adhik hai par all are bi or triweekly. 12815 can go via LKO given 12875 already goes. 12323 also shares same TT as that. 12825,12819,22805 have same TT. So it just addition of one daily train which should be easy
Why only LKO is seen ? CNB-LKO is itself heavily congested. Instead the CNB-ON-UCR-JNH-BSB-MGS should be developed properly (atleast upgrade the mps to 110 and single electrified) and trains should be diverted to it.
Bhai MB kaunsa kam congest hai.? UMB-SRE side and already GZB side se trains aa rahi hain. Plus LKO outer problem. Instead railways should think of complete bypass of LKO station by developing Branch lines.
LKO outer problem is severe agreed, but NYN-ALD-SFG se to kam hai for sure. MB is congested but still no. of trains handled per day is way less than ALD or CNB. Besides freight train are comparatively lesser almost negligible if compared to MGS_CNB route.

What is the benefit of running a train with LHB coaches and constantly running 4-6 hrs late. Other thing is I don't see any benefits of running LHB coaches other than safety, which can be provided by CBC couplers in conventional coaches. If talking about seats in a 22 coacher LHB in which 2 are SLR there is 1600 seats and in 24 coach normal train in which 2 are SLR there is 1584 seats. Then why is so much unnecessary hype about LHB. LHB is good for Raj and Duranto for 160 kmph operational speed. But according to RSDO 130 is fit for CBC coupled coaches. Please... more...
let's have some sensible discussion on this topic.

This all details were given by Sabyasachi Sir...Kindly take a read and then say why not all the trains in india be LHB: 1. LHB coaches have an average speed of 160 kmph and a top speed of 200 kmph as compared to an average speed of 70 kmph and a top speed of 140 kmph in ICF coaches. 2. LHB coaches are more safer as compared to ICF coaches due to a number of reasons - ... more...
* LHB coaches are anti-telescopic and does not turn turtle in case of a derailment. * LHB coaches are made of stainless steel as compared to mild steel (which is a less ductile material and also heavier then stainless steel) in ICF coaches, this increases its shock bearing capacity in case of a mishap. * LHB coaches have Disc brakes whereas ICF coaches have thread brake system hence shorter stopping distance. * The coupling system in LHB coaches reduces the relative motion between two coaches and also prevents one coaches rising on the other in case of an mishap. 3. LHB coaches have a shorter wheel base thus improved ability to negotiate curves at higher speeds. 4. LHB coaches requires less maintenance (intermediate hauling every 5 Lac kms, and periodic hauling every 10 Lac kms) whereas an ICF coach has a shorter maintenance schedule (intermediate hauling every 2 Lac kms and periodic hauling every 4 Lac kms), so by the time an ICF coach is hauled 2 times, an LHB coach can still travel 1 Lac km extra. Thus reduced maintenance cost. 6. LHB coaches have axle mounted suspension system whereas ICF coaches have dashpot type suspension system. ICF coaches have coil springs with dashpot level for primary suspension and springs on lower spring beam through hangers for secondary suspension. Primary suspension system in LHB coach has coil spring with hydraulic damper and control arm and secondary suspension system springs directly mounted on the sides of frames. This increase comfort in LHB coaches and reduces vibration, and also increases the safety because it has lower rolling effects. Also ICF coaches suspension have a problem of oil spillage from the dashpot. 7. LHB coaches have a lower sound level of 60 Db as compared to 100 Db in ICF coaches. 8. LHB coaches have microprocessor controlled Air Conditioning system which automatically maintains the ambient coach temperature both during summers and winters. 9. LHB coaches have higher distance between the inner wheels which implies larger coach width and therefore the width of the side berth are wider then ICF coaches All this equate to lower maintenance cost of LHB coaches, higher carrying capacity and manyfolds increased safety. And biggest reason i think is development and change of face. ICF coaches were based on a 1950's Swiss design, ‘Schlieren’ Swiss Car and Elevator Manufacturing Co." 1950 and now after 66 years , don't you think its high time to have our railways face change over.
You said .."During head on collision coaches tend to climb on each other. That's why CBC is required but LHB is just wastage of money and resources". Oh really only CBC is enough for this... Energy of collision has to be dissipated during head on collision ..where it will go. With weak coaches either gyneshwari exp. Incident will happen or kalka mail.. Jerks... more...
r more in icf CBC ..because of not having suspension system like lhb .. Lhb absorbs energy of collision with his advanced suspension system .. Icf don't have.
"This all details were given by Sabyasachi Sir" who is an IRI member.. Doesn't matters whether pasted from quora or irfca , knowledge should be provided and the "Misconceptions" that are present in mind should be cleared off. Thanks.
IR may be thinking that it's not wastage since Non-LHB Coaches have service life of 25 years but LHB coaches have service life of 35 years. When the Indian Railways Ministry has already increased fares of various things outside the IR Budget then they need to justify the spending of revenue in front of the passengers by showing things like LHB coaches. Now passengers in trains like Poorva, Shiv Ganga and Swatantrata Sainani Exps can also say while traveling in LHB that they are getting their money's worth :)
I guess a race blog involves just running updates of one or more trains not a discussion of topics of discussion LP and Guards and MPS, Fortunately this contain both and so please refrain yourself from mentioning things not useful as per the queries posted. Thanks
Controller meherban to train pehelwan. Covers same distance as the most congested zone (ALD-MGS 153 km) of MGS-JHN of 155 km in less than 2 hours which includes MGS outer upto GAQ and famous DOS bridge of 40 MPS.
