MARUDAIYAR BRIDGE
On 15th MARCH 1987 , 26 yrs back, The MS-TPJ ROCK FORT Exp met with accident at this bridge early morning around 04.30 am between ARIYALUR and SILAKKUDI rly stations of MS-TPJ chord line section on this day.It is situated 3km south of ARIYALUR Rly station.
The bridge was blasted by some tamil extremist group while the train passing through this bridge. In the accident nearly 60 persons were killed including the loco driver.
The MARUDAIYAR bridge is also famous for SEP 1956 train accident. This bridge was washed off by flash floods just before RMM-MS Exp about to cross. In this accident 144 people were killed. The former Rly minister Mr. LAL BAHADUR SHASTRI resigned from minister port-folio...

The MARUDAIYAR BRIDGE on which two remote controlled bombs were detonated early morning 26 yrs before this day. More than 1200 people were traveling on the ROCK FORT Exp when the eight coaches plummeting off the bridge. The un official sources said as many as 100 people could have been killed. At least 130 people were admitted to hospitals . Absolutely no doubt that this was a case of sabotage. About 150 feet of track was destroyed by the bomb.

yesterday it started from tj at 8.55pm and reached goc at 9.55pm for slip addition but they moved it to tpj at 11.20pm and around 23.55 it left tpj towards ms... reached tbm @5.20am.
rmm-ms boatmail was also waits at 2nd pf of tpj until 11.40pm.

Why Rockfort takes 55 mins for to travel from Tiruverumbur to Tiruchchirappalli Junction. Even passenger trains not taking these much time. ???
