as a pilot project,reservations should also be tried in some emu which run for approximate 3 hours...there is no first class in kolkata emu and no express trains ply on south sealdah section...so a reservation class would be in handy for those who can afford...also its very inconvenient for well-to-do families to travel with wife kids and luggage in these emu,especially if boarding from an intermediate station...it can also be introduced in other parts like hyderabad and chennai,depending on the duration of run...i know that these emu are overcrowded,but still a single reservation coach out of a total of 12 would add to the revenue...
Reservations for EMU? Don't know should I vote for or against?

what other option do you have if you want to travel 100km and dont have private transport yet...local trains are fast,safe and comfortable than city busses over here...
and there have been express trains running for 3 hours or so like shantiniketan express,etc and people plan for it months in advance and these express are doing wonderfully well...
i will not opt for any increase in services like cushions,etc but just reduction of rush will be a luxury...

Hmm, I don't it will work BG. But,we can book the ticket 3 days before for local trains too, I guess.
yes,you can book any train journeys exceeding 200km 3 days in advance...be it express or passenger..i dont think any local/emu run for more than 200km though...
just see this hwh bhp shantiniketan express runs for about 2 hours 15 minutes

and the reservation has opened for 120 days beyond...so why cant people reserve for emu running for 3 hours?

If you see small distance running ICE, 2S class is not filled. Even for highly successful trains, they are filled either a day before or two. So, I think its not worth enough to include such reservation system even for EMU's. Also, apart from hwh, there are no such long running EMU's in MAS(MAS NLR is there ) or in HYB.
okay,so we can have advanced reservation period of 10 days for these emus...
we also have hwh midnapur emu that needs more than 3hrs 15 mins to complete its run of 128 kms...have a look /train/16844/1/952

when searched from sealdah to namkhana it was showing 0 trains.pls rectify it.
