Presently maximum office is situated or shifted to Saltlake, Rajarhat area. From Howrah it is very difficult to reach at Saltlake. So we request to Eastern Rail to introduce one pair of galloping Sealdah - Barddhaman local. Up local should start from Sealdah at 5.40 pm & DOWN local should start from Barddhaman at 8.15 am.We can access Bidhangar Road station.

As our Howrah Burdwan (via CHORD) EMU departed from Howrah Jn. (pl- 5), we were privileged to get view of numerous trains, which marked an awesum beginning for a day of railfanning of 4 friends. First we saw 12351/ 12352 Howrah Danapur Express before having an awesum parallel run with 03061/ 03062 Howrah- Mumbai CSTM (via Allahabad Jn.) Puja Special heading towards car shed, which finally halted as the rake had to go washing at the coach washing room (at 07:32). Finally we also saw 18005/ 18006 Howrah Jn.- Koraput Samaleshwari Express being shunted towards station from Santragachi car shed.. Also we saw numerous locos...

As our Howrah Jn.- Burdwan Jn. EMU (via Chord) slowly accelerates out of the PSR zone, we can spot a numerous number of lines, trains and locos (a rail-fan's delight). To start with, we can find the SER (South Eastern Railways) line going towards Santragachi Jn. (where lines from Shalimar station meet) and finally heading South towards Kharagpur Jn. (the triple line section behind the boundary wall in the start of the video). Within no time, a HWH WDS (no.??) pulls the 12303 POORVA Express (via Patna Jn.) from the Liluah Car Shed towards the platform through the additional line (which is used by light locos and shunting rakes). Then on the car shed, we can see the end of the 12345/12346 Howrah Jn.- Guwahati SARAIGHAT EXPRESS rake, and also a number of WDS. Then

we move under the road bridge and arrive at the Liluah (Howrah) Electric Loco Shed, where we an find a numerous number of WAP- 4 with a solitary WAP- 7, WAM- 4 and WDM- 3A. Then we cross the coach washing room at 02:10 and move on to the second car shed (and also a wagon depot), where we can spot the rakes of numerous trains hiding one behind the other. At 02:42, we can see the coach of some train completely gutted by fire (can anyone tell what happened to the coach??). Finally we take the curve, go under the flyover, and enter Liluah station. Railfan Anindya Da can be partially seen in the video.

As our Howrah Jn.- Burdwan Jn. EMU (via Chord) departed from Liluah and moved towards Belur through the 5- line section (2 Chord and 3 Main Line), we can locate BRH (Bogie rail-carrying flat car with roller bearings), BCNA, BOXN, BTPN, BTPGLN (Bogie tanker, for liquefied petroleum gas ) rakes and a numerous number of caboose waiting for dismantle (or period overhauling) in the huge Belur Scrapyard (Wasteland) before finally pulling on to the next station- Belur. A Main Line EMU can also be seen departing from the station

As our Howrah Jn.- Burdwan Jn. EMU (via Chord) departed from Belur, we quickly accelerated and moved on to our next halt- Bally, which marked the end of 5- Line territory and also a goodbye to the Main Lines. From Bally, 2- Lines go towards the Chord, and 3- Lines towards the Main. At 01:35 , we go under the Road Bridge (6 Lane Belghoria Expressway and another 4 Lane Road) and Rail Bridge (The lines coming from Sealdah to meet us at Dankuni Jn.). The Main Lines from Sealdah meet the Main Lines from Howrah at Naihati Jn. Look how the Main Line's platfrom head straight, and the Chord Line's platforms take a sharp turn. It is a high speed curve, where non- halting trains pass at 100+ km/hr.

After our EMU departed from Dankuni Jn. [where 2 more railfans- Srijit (coming from Lake Town in North Kolkata) and Raunak (coming from Hiland Park in South Kolkata) joined me and Anindya Da], it quickly gained acceleration and crossed the massive curve at no less than 80 km/hr before finally coming to a halt at its next station- GOBRA.

On this video, you can find our Howrah Jn.- Burdwan Jn. EMU (via Chord) Departing from GOBRA station, and moves with a good speed upto JANAI ROAD, the next station enroute. At 01:05, you can find the COAL INDIA LIMITED factory (zoomed for a better view). This area is commonly known as DANKUNI COAL COMPLEX. And just before we enter the station, we can find lines coming from the industry to meet us. Btw, another Burdwan Jn.- Howrah Jn. EMU (via Chord) crosses us enroute.

Well, Bally's gone, and now its rime to move on a double line territory for two stations, and then triple line section from Dankuni Jn. onwards. As our Up Howrah Jn.- Burdwan Jn. EMU (via Chord) departs from Bally, we take the popular massive high-speed Chord Line Curve and cross another Down Burdwan Jn.- Howrah Jn. EMU (via Chord) before finally coming to an halt at BELANAGAR. At 01:53, you can find the lines heading towards Sealdah (only goods train use this line to go from Howrah to Sealdah). There are no passenger services between these two stations.

After our Howrah Jn.- Burdwan Jn. EMU (via Chord) departs from Belanagar station, its time to arrive at the next station, the very important Dankuni Jn..
At 00:48, we go under the congested Kolkata- Delhi Road.
At 01:05, we go under the rail bridge, which are used by wagons to move from the Dankuni side towards the Sealdah or ACC Link Line (described later) direction. This lines are used by slow moving wagons, so that they do not block the lines coming from Howrah while they change tracks. A BCNA rake also stands on the line, to give preference to the 13150 Alipur Duar- Sealdah KANCHAN KANYA EXPRESS.

At 01:23, we meet the lines coming from Sealdah and the ACC Link Lines.
At 01:29, I zoom my cam to give a proper view of the WHEEL AND AXLE FACTORY (under construction).
Finally we stop just short of the once existing Wagon flyover, which were used by wagons heading from ACC Link Lines towards Howrah at Dankuni Jn. outer. Our halt was due to give clearance to the 13150 Alipur Duar- Sealdah KANCHAN KANYA EXPRESS.
++ P.S. The ACC Link Lines are the lines which connects ER with SER by skipping Howrah Jn.. It has two divisions. One is between Rajchandrapur (in ER) along with Andul Jn. (in SER). It is used by trains departing from Sealdah and going towards South (SER). Another is between Dankuni Jn. (in ER) and Santragachi Jn. (in SER). It is used by trains departing from Shalimar or Santragachi Jn. station, and moving North (ER).

FIRST OF ALL, I WANT TO APOLOGIZE FOR THE UNNECESSARY ZOOM THAT HAPPENED ACCIDENTALLY BETWEEN 01:08 and 01:18. Actually I was so busy to watch the smoking of the Deemer that I didnt notice that my finger touched the ZOOM option in the touchscreen.
Coming back to the details of the video, Camera used: SONY DCR SX45 (70X). Our Howrah Jn.- Burdwan Jn. EMU (via Chord) was made to halt at Dankuni Jn. outer to give clearance to the 13150 Alipur Duar Jn.- Sealdah KANCHAN KANYA EXPRESS headed by HWH (Howrah) shed Deemer WDM- 3A (14143R). We were on the Up Line coming from Howrah, whereas the Express changed tracks from the Down Reverse Line to the Main Down Line heading towards Sealdah. So the trains criss-crossed us by moving from our left to our right.

++P.S. Howrah Jn.- Dankuni Jn. and Sealdah- Dankuni Jn. are double Line section, whereas Dankuni Jn.- Burdwan Jn. is a triple Line section. The Up Line coming from Howrah forms the Up Main Line after Dankuni (towards Burdwan). And the Down Reverse Line forms the Down Main Line after Dankuni (towards Howrah). The Down Main Line coming from Burdwan meets the Down Line before and after Dankuni Jn. (towards Howrah). And both Up and Down Lines from Sealdah meets the Triple Line section before and after Dankuni Jn. Some Up EMUs and Freights also use the Down Reverse to give passage to the faster Expresses through the Up Main Line. So trains coming from Howrah side's Up Line to take the Up Main Line after Dankuni (towards Burdwan), and trains from Down Reverse Line and going towards Howrah does MPS through this station (except EMUs of course), while others have to slow down for changing tracks. Note that all trains heading from/going towards Sealdah have to slow down, even Rajdhani and Duronto. Btw, railfan Anindya Da can also be seen in the video.

After giving clearance to the 13150 Alipur Duar- Sealdah KANCHAN KANYA EXPRESS, our Howrah Jn.- Burdwan Jn. EMU (via Chord) Finally gets the starter... Right from the srart of the video, you can find fallow lands near the railway tracks, which are the lands reclaimed from willing land owners to build the EAST DEDICATED FREIGHT CORRIDOR. This corridor will extend right from Ludhiana, Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Mughal Sarai, Dhanbad, Dankuni Jn., and then take a steep right turn towards Haldia Docks. Btw, coming back to the video, at 00:26, you can find a track repairing machine. At 00:37, the Down Main Line gets diverge from the Down Reverse Line (to form the triple line section). At 01:05, you can watch a Caboose coach fitted at the very middle of a BCNA rake (Typical na??) headed by

After our Down Burdwan Jn.- Howrah Jn. EMU (via Chord) departed from Liluah, we were privileged to watch a numerous number of trains and locos (afterall, the station with highest no. of platforms never dissapoints a railfan).. From 00:47 onwards we can watch the huge second car shed, which was holding a number of rakes with a HWH WDS- 6 (36078) and HWH WDS- 6R (36160). At 01:14, we cross the discarded body of 2 burnt sleeper coaches (any idea on which accident was these coaches a part of??) and a few BTPN wagons in the wagon depot. At 01:36, our train's sibling crossed us, Up Howrah Jn.- Burdwan Jn. EMU (via Chord) crossed us. And just as it passed, we were greeted by a number of locos in the Liluah (Howrah) Electric Loco shed,

which comprised of dozens of WAP- 4, the solitary HWH shed WAP- 7 (to haul the Howrah Jn.- Dhanbad Jn. Double Decker A.C. Express), twin WAG- 7s, a WDM- 3D (to haul the Howrah Jn.- Guwahati Saraighat Express) and a few shunters. Slowly, we enter the PSR zone while crossing the first car shed at 02:48. At 02:58, we cross the rake of 12383/12384 Dhanbad Jn.- Howrah Jn.- Dhanbad Jn. Double Decker A.C. Express. At 03:24, we cross a trpically mixed rake (of some unknown train) which also had coaches of Shatabdi and Yuva Express before crossing the empty rake of 12306 New Delhi- Howrah Jn. (via Patna Jn.) Rajdhani Express heading towards the car shed. Finally we came to a halt to give clearance to the 13049 Howrah Jn.- Amritsar Jn. Super Crawler Express. You can also hear conversation between me and my fellow railfan Srijit..

As our EMU waited for the clearance, 16138R Kharagpur shed WDM- 3A comes up pulling the empty rake of "THE" 12841Howrah Jn.- Chennai Central COROMANDEL EXPRESS towards the Howrah New Complex from the Santragachi Car shed, only to find a red signal awaiting for it... Towards the start of the video, you can find smoke rising in the fire, as a big fire caught in the Howrah Fish Market (as confirmed to me by Srijit).. Btw, the king of SER now-a-days share rake with 12839/12840 Howrah Jn.- Chennai Central Superfast Mail. The yellow strip at the end of the coaches indicate that the coaches have CENTRE COUPLING SYSTEM (just like LHB coaches).. As a matter of utter shock, our EMU got proceed order before the King... Well, to my utter shock, our Down Burdwan Jn.- Howrah Jn. EMU (via Chord) got the proceed order before the 16138R Kharagpur shed WDM- 3A headed 12841 Coromandel Express (heading to platform from Santragachi car shed) and started heading towards the platform. At 00:39, 22638 WAP- 4 (HWH shed) headed 12023 Howrah Jn.- Patna Jn. Jan Shatabdi Express crosses us. You can find conversation between me and Srijit about this train's rake sharing.. At 02:03, we cross thw stationary 36221 WDS- 6R and at 02:50, 22523 HWH shed WAP- 4 before going under the legendary 1933 built road bridge, which still contained a scribbling on the top reading 1933 EIR (East India Railway). At 03:14, we find a shunter shunting a HCPV (High Capacity Parcel Van). Finally we came through another shocker (well, Howrah Jn.

never dissapoints an enthu railfan).. Our EMU pulled into pl- 8!!! As a fact, Pl-8 (capacity of hauling 21 coaches train) and pl-9 (capacity of hauling 24 coach train) share the CAB ROAD, and are exclusively meant for high profile trains!!! Same is the case with pl- 21 and pl-22 of New Complex.. Sorry for the absurd ending, as I got nervous while seeing the RPF eying me...
