Kakaji, I must admit that you have very good and knowledgeable South Indian (not Madraasi as they are collectively referred to in your part of the country) friends.

A misnomer.Madras does not encapsulate the flavour of South India.

But here in my city, people think Madras is South India and South India is Madras.

Will you agree if trains By pass Madurai and move on.. More than that.. For long distance trains MAS is a Hub.. Crew Changes, Loco Changes, Food Changes, etc will take place..

Agreed Prabhu. But why not make them halt at Perambur instead of congesting MAS and wasting time for loco reversal.

I humbly object that one should not answer " Will you agree" or such a way.
Trains can skip MAS and continue and Perambur is not far from City in anycase and in any times too. Due to these trains only, new trains arent coming from MAS.

PER is less connected via Buses and other mass transport System sir.. We are used to MAS, lets continue with this.. There are some things for which money can be wasted.. I guess it is definetly worthy for the trains to come to MAS. it has more platform to load and unload parcels, good, amenties etc..

Then we should ask the authorities to improve facilities and expand the station at Perambur. It is always good to have alternatives.

PER is right on the main line for local trains from MAS to AJJ and there are so many buses towards Virugugambakam, Vadapalani and CMBT.
And I guess there is no place that MAS is not WELL connected by any means of transport.

I once remember a situation when There are some restoring activities going in MAS, so Trains started from PER for Some days.. So authorities have had a taste of how the situation looks when this happens.

yes. HWH/GHY bound trains from SBC can and should bypass MAS via RU-KPD-AJJ

i agree in ur case...if perambur is developed as another alternative to MAS then MAS can handle new trains..

Same railway board is also thinking madras is south india south india is madras...thats why southern part and east west parts of tamilnadu are neglected in every railway budget.........

No chance for that as of now.. They said they will develop Royapuram which itself not started yet..

No,mail doesnt over take. This train is parked in KGP for 50 mins and given side for Mail. And then it blindly follows mail till MAS.

nice capture...

i have travelled in 2a of this train. nice and comfortable cooling but tatterred curtains. quite hygienic food from pantry but poor maintainance and cleanliness of coach. quite punctual but difficult to get resvn.
