What can be the reason for heavy smoke coming out beneath sleeper coach(not fire)? Last friday(22nd Jan). i was traveling in 12695, 3A. Train was speeding after leaving MAS on time. It was in good MPS and suddenly, i saw that, there was huge white smoke outside. Initially i though that, it might be dust. Train was still maintaining MPS. Very soon, there was rigorous breaking, and when i went to door to check it out. All, i could see was thick smoke coming from sleeper coach(to be precise, beneath the coach). Smoke was so strong that, one couldn't see anything beyond that coach. Train stopped, and slowly smoke also diminished. And then train ran normally without much issue. Hardly train... more...
halted for 5min for smoke to settle down. What might be the reason for this smoke.
Hi could you elaborate as to whether the train was braking frequently before this incident took place....... Because had it been a case of Hot Axle, it would have been a much serious problem. Probably the train crew had a look at the wheels during those 5 mins, found nothing serious and let the train proceed!
I think it could be the case of brake jamming. I had a similar exp in Island exp towards Kerala. There was a chain pulling incident at KJM. The train resumed its journey after 5 min but somehow till Bangarpet there was this heavy smoke. Psngrss complained and when it reached BWT and train was checked , this was the response what some of the rly staff said. Their response was that the trigger was the sudden braking post the chain pull and then every other time when the train ws braked it resulted in the smoke which can come about due to brake jamming [Not sure of the explanation though !!!]
