What is the difference?

no first class coach in locals of kolkata region...first class coach only present in mumbai pune and other western sub urban locals...

Chennai too does have.. In every four compartments one is first class+womens.

In delhi locals too First is there and also the locals running inside kerala..( ERS QLN) Memus have First class

Difference here in MAS is 1st class has cushion seats. obviously rates are high.. no crowding.. But it is mostly done by senior citizens and railway employees..

Seats will be Good in condition, with spun ch type, (like reserved coach seats)
and less crowd.. fare are tooo different

But in mumbai , all the lines ( western/central / harbour), the main difference other than seat is the smell of perfume.
crowd is same as second class.

noo, i never see so much crowd in 1st class of local, people are not mad to pay more than actual fare and travelling by standing

Amit , if you are new to mumbai and boarding from cstm to boriwali through harbour line, at your time mentioned , other that saturday and sunday ( all working day) you will find peoples already capture the seat from masjid(return train) and before the local stops at platform peoples board the train like mad.
You will got the standing , but be sure seat avaibility is very rare, and please if you had luggages , than do little late in catching the local, or go to Churchgate and take past 9.30 trains only.Connectivity from churchgate to borivalli is regular.Please do not catch any virar train else you will not get a chance to alight.

In the Middle

if it is 12 coach car , there will be 3 first class coach and if it is 9 coach car than only 2. You will see the platform , there will be a zebra marking in platform as well as on train itself. do not hesitate to ask people regarding 1st class coach position. mumbai peolples are very helping in nature.
it is basically middle of train.

Rajkiran sir FC local also will be full like second class during peak times but in off peak times they will be free enough to sit and go..

The difference between 1st class and the 2nd class in mumbai Local is just the "odour" or I must say its the DEODRANT

u can get a seat in the 1st class during noon but not in 2nd class
