The bridge is expected to be completed by end of 2015. Sources say that when completed it will be 4.55 kilometres (2.83 mi) long and therefore the longest road cum rail bridge in India and one of the longest in the world. The railway line through Patna was opened in 1862. Prior to that the transport of raw materials and finished goods was done through the river transport on Ganga river. There are two branch lines, one is in the western zone that connects Patna Junction with Digha Ghat, and the other is in the eastern zone connecting the Patna City with Patna Ghat. after santragachi there is a line which takes right turn and go towards rajchandrapur and then meet the burdwan cord line before dankuni.. this route is mainly taken by goods trains but sealdah puri duronto and shalimar patna duronto take this route also..
Jul 01 2014 (3:59PM) I was thinking that some trains from Howrah Jn New Complex can also be launched and they can take this route towards Dankuni to go to North India or even via Santragachi - Adra / Asansol - Purulia / Gomoh to decongest Durgapur Track :-)
The IRI Detailed TT of this train says that it starts from Shalimar Station and travels via Padmapukur - Santragachi - Baltikuri Jn - Bhatta Nagar to join further at Dankuni Jn for proceeding towards Burdwan Chord Line. I was thinking that some trains from Howrah Jn New Complex can also be launched and they can take this route towards Dankuni to go to North India or even via Santragachi - Adra / Asansol or Santragachi - Purulia / Gomoh to decongest Durgapur Track :-)
Yes...you are right sir. Its very punctual, reason is its TT. Pnbe se ye danapur ex, punjab mail, vibhuti se pehle khulti hai to late hone ka sawal hi nahi hota aur yahan shm se kafi late khulti hai to max trains kafi aage nikal chuki hoti hai
