22214 reached SHM early morning so you need max 30min in by bus and 10-15 min taxi.

Are buses to howrah station available directly from shalimar station.. please comment..

you have to walk about five minutes from SHM to get a direct bus to Howrah.

Take Bus No : 61 which is going to Alampur from Howrah Station (Via Andul.Rd), take ticket for Shalimar Railway Station, from there it's about 5-7 minutes walk through road across railway tracks...

why by bus? there are local tains @ kolkata can't we travel by local trains?

The local services from SHM-SRC and vice-versa is very poor and inadequate, so better to take private cab or bus...

first travel in Raigarh Gondia Janshatabdi Express and then make any such list, in JS trains there is something called current reservation, plz don't go with the ol availability.. i'm from durg and i know howz train is performing.

Yes, I also agree. These trains are not able to fetch uniform revenue for IR and really a burden on state exchequer.

Many such white elephants running on IR!!! some of them i am aware of:
Indore - Udaipur exp
Indore - Jabalpur exp
Amravati - Nagpur exp
Pune - manmad exp
Solapur - Kolhapur exp
Solapur - Hubli exp

Pune-Manmad is history, now it is extended to Bhusaval with good patronage.

Howrah - Puri is most White Elephant of IR

Howrah NJP Shatabdi can perform well with better schedule but MAYBE frequency must be decreased (frequency 3 days a week) if 1 rake is used. Arrival at NJP should be earlier & NJP departure should be later.
One way white elephant :
Secunderabad Pune Shatabdi (for this direction). Better schedule is needed to make it better. 2 rakes MAY be needed for it or MAYBE frequency should not more than 3 days if 1 rake is used. Arrival at Pune should be earlier. It will be also good if departure from Pune is later but arrival schedule is worse than departure at Pune

If Howrah Puri Duronto is replaced by a Shatabdi with halts at Bhubaneswar and some other places then it will be popular.

agra fort jaipur shatabdi may be a white elephant. It is a new train so we have to wait to watch its popularity & we can comment in future.

Kolkata - Patna Garib Rath timing is bad. It is blocked by other train upto Barddhaman. KOAA - PNBE Garib Rath should start from Kolkata at 11.40 pm and should reach Patna within 7 hours. It may be extended upto Raxaul

1. Shalimar patna duranto - since its introduction it was supposed to be one as ot didn't terminate at Hwh or Koaa or Sdah and Passenger wouldn't prefer it as paying a good amount in the train and afterward more expenditure is needed to get to Hwh..
Some modifications needed
a. Extension upto any of the above stated terminals.
B. Converted into superfast and stops same as Hwh rajdhani via gaya..
And it will produce a patronage which will be awesome..

2. Kolkata patna GR.
Extend it to Bsb or Lko or divert it to Gkp via Mfp-Cpr..

Anvt Ssm GR - well sasaram isn't a popular station and if extended to gaya and diversion via Mb-Lko-Bsb route will help it gain more patronage..

15 Anvt Mfp GR has never been a white elephant forever yes it has less occupancy than other trains but still it has much better patronage than trains mentioned in the list..

Also TT to be reduced current it takes around 2r hrs for the journey which is much more..

1 rake is used .
The train arr NJP very late night & It is always runs in late.

If two rake is used & the train dep around 9 am then it can become hit.. .

Move GaribRath at SMI and see difference.

SC-TPTY garibrath would be good via KRNT, HX.
SC-MAS doranto is good idea.
tungabhadra may be extended to kadapa after introduction of new SC-KRNT express.
sc-vskp shatabdi is not feasible.

Even LTT ERS Duronto is creamish. Used as last resort and for peak season only.

It would be better to add Sleeper Coaches to all these AC Expresses and also convert the Durontos out of such trains into Super fasts by adding Commercial Stoppages for making them into Profitable Horses rather than White Elephants ..... the list would be much more longer in reality :-p

If SL Coaches added with flop AC duronto exp then it may become hit....

Santragachi Ajmer Express,Jaipur Delhi Sarai Rohilla Double Decker Express.

Non-AC Durontos like Ajmer - Delhi Sarai Rohilla & Ernakulam - Nizamuddin which are not doing so well can further be converted into Superfasts by adding Commercial Stoppages ... this is 1 step ahead of making them a hit in 12357 Exp Style. The CDG-ASR SF is a good example :-)

HBJ JBP janshatabti gets full by current reservation. You can reserve ur ticket before 1 hour of boarding. But it gets sufficient number of passanger we cant say it White Elephant.

But SDAH -PURI , HWH -YPR doing very well.

So the AC & Non-AC Durontos which are doing well can remain untouched. I was talking about the ailing Durontos only :-o

as suggested by me several times:
1. Dhanbad-HWH AC DD express should be extended to BKSC and also required is improvement in Avg. speed, at present this train has too much of slack time.
2. Dhanbad-BBS GR should be extended to VSKP. also the average speed of this train is pathetic. in most of the section the average speed of this train is among the slowest one.
