If precision matters I'll tell you a trick. After 00:00 hrs and before 08:00 hrs tomorrow, check availability for 14-05-2013. That availability will reflect the total seats available.

We get this on checking availability between terminal stations?

different quotas have different seats ,, exact no can never be found because there are hidden seats as well for HO quota.,,, u can see the coach comp and calculate from there

Between whichever stations you intend to find the info. This will give the max number of seats that can be booked between that pair of stations in that quota.

See..let me tell you my issue, if you guys are willing to help me. I want to know how many people (AC seats) depart from Agra everyday to anywhere in India. How can I do it? (Have put question for this train because I was just using this to understand concepts for rail quotas)

A second seating coach marked as 'D-' has 108 seats.
An AC Chair Car coach marked as 'C-' has 73 seats. Now left on you is simple arithmetic! :)

Is this figure available for every train on this website? I mean you are telling this through your knowledge or such information is available on this website. Will help me to do such calculations for any train I want

Wo! Believe me that's a tough job. And in that case I'm afraid precision can't be assured. Coz if there are 50 daily trains leaving Agra there are 60 weekly/biweekly/triweekly ones. So you need to select one day of the week for this.

Will figure out the way to ease the hard work- I have some people to share the burden. But need to confirm the methodology that can be applied using the information on this website.

There are two kinds of coaches in IR.
1. LHB
2. ICF
Checking the links above will give you coach composition in each type of coaches of all classes.
Only Rajdhanis and Shatabdis passing through Agra have LHB. Rest have ICF.

Check each train. Its coach composition. Mathematics. and result.

Query. Suppose Karnataka Express- If I check the availability between Agra Cantt and Bangalore- it shows me 8 in AC II. Same is the availability between Agra and Raichur. So I assume that we can predict that 8 seats are for all the people catching at Agra- they may reserve till any station in between. So I can never find out through this exercise how many generally travel between AGra and Bangalore and how many between Agra and any other station (say Raichur)
Secondly, had this train stopped at two different stations at Agra, would both of them share this quota of 8 or each have different?

Yes. Quotas are allocated on starting points irrespective of where you de-board. Point is that those 8 seats can be booked an anyone traveling from Agra to anywhere.
Second: Dedicated quotas are allocated to only specific bigger stations. Like Delhi Agra Bhopal etc.
The rest intermediate ones share quota of preceding bigger station.

u can check pnr history of a train to know total available seat between a pair of stations at this site or search by Google search from source station A to destination station B
u ll find a idea/ figure of total available seat at IRI.

2. Do we have a list of all the trains in India anywhere..in excel sheet would be of great help?
3. You talked about the PNR history from this website to get to know how many travelled between specific stations..how extensive is this data?

1.It ain't specifically mentioned but i can tell you in the nutshell that only Bhopal Shatabdi and Chennai Rajdhani have LHB coaches as far as trains from Agra cantt are concerned.
While on Agra Fort only Jaipur Agra shatabdi has LHB.
Basically LHB is given to most of the Rajdhanis/Shatabdis and some express trains (for whom its mentioned somewhere in the train page)
2. Not that I'm aware of.
3. The PNR forum is not VERY extensive as far as your research is concerned. Only a few PNRs are posted and the number of entries IN NO WAY give any data about total number of tickets booked.
