It is also possible that they have allotted you CNF berth in another train/Class/Coach.

is it possible that tkt is alloted to u by ir for other train ? there may be so many trains passing that stn n if time factor issue comes that train is early night at 8-9pm but actual tkt booked by passenger is at 11.40pm dep?

If u want in particular UPGRADE then Meet the TTE and if SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY get upgraded and travel... I have no objection,...
Else then travel in your class of Journey

There is no point in speculative discussion.
My family has a very bad experience of this kind of status.

Same case happen with one of guest in Poorva Express - 12381 2 months back. check this blog entry /blog/post/609498/38. in which got to know that looks like this ticket booked by agent using personal ID. So they released this PNR and didn't allot new PNR.

See on indianrail.gov.in whether they have given new PNR of released ticket and enquire on that PNR.

This seems to be Weird case when checked out on 139 PNR status its replying for all passengers RAC 0-0...Guess the guest blogger is in a trouble now,they will provide refund i guess no accomdation...

Yep better he/she has to go to station to come to know the situation,could be a case of S11-coach removal at last moment...

I would suggest you to visit station and clarify over there.

Its the booking status and current status showing released,in such cases usually a new PNR with new accommodated berths should be mentioned which is not the case.

We board trains watching Confirmed/RAC status. But what to do when this odd status appears?

As your train departs at 23:40 you must be going to station . So better go now and sort out with Station master on duty...

Pls visit the Station immediately to sort out matters and then can decide the fate of the ticket.
You should be given FULL refund in this case as they could not provide you a confirmed reservation.

There are cases when Released PNR are not shown.
Actually Released Status happens in two cases:
1) HO Applied - Boarding from Intermediate Station - PNR Released from Source Station - Alternate PNR provided.
2) HO Applied - No space in the currrent train/class=> PNR Released for accommodation in same train/different class and/or different train/same or different class.
