Saving non-renewable Fossil Fuels like Diesel should be IR's top most priority!
Running Diesel train, especially the 'Jurassic aged' ALCO's on fully electrified tracks makes no sense!
The HWH-BPL Weekly can easily run upto DHN/BRKA with a electric locomotive and then change over to Diesel!
Similar case can be said of the RNC-DMKA intercity! The Diesel loco can be attached at DHN/JSME!

DHN-BBS GR, instead of a VSKP- ALCO doing the hauling duties, an electric loco can easily haul this train from DHN-ROU, and then Diesel from ROU-BBS!
Why is IR not taking this steps already is surprising, considering the fact that Diesel is scarce and expenive!

1> A diesel loco burns a whole lot fuel while hauling than while idling! I completely disagree with your point that a diesel loco can't be a issue, when the train is traveling over such a long distance with a ALCO,don't ignore the return is done with the same locomotive . If Shaktipunj can get over a loco change BRKA, then what is the problem with this train????
2> For RNC-DUMK intercity, I understood that availability of D/E-Locos at JSME is an issue, hence the changeover pont was proposed at DHN! The LC at JSME would take a whole longer than a simple LR, hence the LC can be done at DHN. Atleast the half-journey can be covered in E-Loco. That saves

It is not like DHN is alien to loco changing duties! It wasn't a very long while ago, when the RNC-DHN line wasn't fully electrified, and DHN was a Loco (Diesel-Loco) Changeover point for the RNC bound trains. This can be done over again.
3> DHN-BBS is a tri-weekly, so it's haulage by a diesel loco over a majority of electrified loco clearly makes no sense. Clearly the train can get a loco change done at ROU (ET from DHN-ROU, DT from ROU-BBS). 13351 gets it done daily!For the DHN-BBS GR one ALCO would be sufficient! As a matter of fact, the DHN-BBS GR already costs a lot of diesel to IR because of continous running of the two EOGs! SO it would be wise for ECoR & ECR to run it with an E-Loco wherever.
And infact if IR insists on running D-locos on this trains due to practical constraints as you say, then they should avail the services of the newer EMDs allocated to PTRU & UDL.
Atleast EMDs are far more fuel efficient than the ALCOs,beside their other advantages!!!

mean dual time wastage instead of single..DHN & JSME!! & who said LC gonna take less time then LR (Attach n detach? SBC Raj via Dhone takes less time in changeover @ SC as compared to via RC (Dhone: LC with Rake reverse..RC: LC with no rake reverse)!!
As told..electricity isn't free & IR pays it @ premium level..An idle E-Loco remains dead while D-Loco even if idle, keeps on burning fuel..so apparently running that idle D-Loco seems cheaper cz only acceleration diesel cost gonna get added against its idle stand..EMD/E-Loco allocation depends on Loco Availability!!

Sir, I never mentioned as electicity being free......now did I?
Electricity is generated by thermal as a well as hydel means. 70% by thermal and 30% by hydel and other means. Beside the generation of electricity by renewable resources like Wind & Solar, though now miniscule, but are increasing at a very steadfast pace.......Nuclear power stations are also available.......You talk of Coal, with present usage rates coal reserves will still last 200 years! Electricity is nowwhere the problem. Your excuse that, because IR has a premium rate to pay-off for the electricity it consumes, they are free to run diesel locos on electrified tracks is totally illogical!

reserves are already much scarce, about 30 years worth are left,and add this to the fact there are other uses to petrol and diesel besides Locomotives. They are used in automobiles, aeroplanes, ships......... IR has an option to substitute e Diesel loco for an electric loco in an electrified track, but what about the rest. Surely electric & hybrid cars exist but what about airways & waterways? Battery power can't be an option here now can't it?
Now regarding your second point, let me clarify you that since you talk of 'time waste', The 'Time wasted' for changing a D-E loco now, will save a lot of precious diesel loco for our future generations will it not.............I think everyone is now following the means for "Sustainable Devlopment", if this is not sustainable devlopment then what is it???
Your belief that the D-loco's running fuel expenses cost & idling fuel expenses cost being marginally different is also misplaced.
click here . The featured loco WDM-3A consumes only 3.6litres of diesel fuel while idling, whilst drinking upto 5 litres per km of it's run, how can the cost differences be marginal???
And of course EMD locomotives depend on availability, but ER & ECR both have E-locos & they can suffice them.
I understand that you are a diesel fan sir, but kindly think of long-term adverse effects that Diesel locos have, they can never be sustainable in the long run.
That is the primary reason why IR has stepped up it's electrification plans.
Kindly go through this PDF files, there are detailed reports about how much IR tries to improve it's aged diesel fleet. The numbers though improved compared to 50s' & 70s' are not good enough for the future.....

1. Energy lost while producing thermal Electricity..into heat/radiation along with Combustion energy lost..Isnt Coal also fossil?? What about Diesel run thermal plants??

India as a whole is Electricity deprived..We hav Electricity deficit against required & then IR utilize major chunk out of that deficit share!! To make over, DG set runs across India for home/office needs!! Isnt that adds to fossil wastage??

PS: IR utilizes approx 10% of Diesel share of India while its 27% of Peak Load Electric share!! M not advocating IR nt to utilize E-Loco whn traction exists...but sme or other issue prevail, whch enforce D-Loco usage..whn u self admit..IR getting aggressive

Sir that is precisely the point that I am trying to make, Diesel should be saved wherever possible!
Coal though a fossil fuel is still in much more amount than Diesel, and so isn't in as much danger of being completely exhausted...unlike diesel!

3.6 l per hour vs 5km/l during a normal run, a normal run usually means 60 kms, so that adds fuel consumption of 300 litres normally.
That is a whole lot of difference.

Cost wise..IR intake Diesel is cheap while Elec is Premium...for that 60 Odd Kms..can u tell hw mch Electric run cost would b?? Cz u need to keep awaiting E-Loco live (nt dead) & for same 60 Kms...hw mch??

Again you misinterpret my response, I said of reducing diesel use, but did I ever mention of using up off more coal?????

Erstwhile it would have had a line joining to some near by places.
Same case for Coimbatore, In Station board you can find it as CBE junction but no lines join there. The reason is it had a line to irugur from CBE some 4 decades back , later the line was altered as Irugur to Podanur but still the juction tag remains
