A beautiful view of the 18047 HWH-VSG Amaravathi express passing through the mighty Dudhsagar falls, clicked during our DDS hiking trip on 28th July, 2012. The train was lead by the customary Anti-braking system fitted GY WDG3a twins. Picture clicked from the view point, which is 1 km from Dudhsagar falls and 2 kms from Dudhsagar station

Dear mr. kini, i intend to visit dudhsagar watrerfalls this july/aug. can you describe your dds hiking trip of 28 july 12. did you travel by passenger/freight train, more about viewpoints, lookouts, info on getting in /getting out, etc.
I also request other members to provide any info about dudhsagar monsoon hiking or trains halting at dudhsagar station or dudhsagar waterfall, as per their experience.

Hello :) I am from Pune. For DDS Hiking, we (me + 3 friends)took Goa express from Pune to Castle Rock. The train departed Pune around 5 PM and reached Castle rock at around 3 am in morning. Then we slept in the station till 6 am and started walking towards DDS. We had few snack breaks in between and reached Dudhsagar falls around 12 PM. We had a good amount of fun there, covering Dudhsagar falls and walked a km further to the famous View point (the place where i clicked the above picture). Later we walked back to station and had a engine ride on WDG4 from Dudhsagar to Qulem (QLM). We caught our return Goa express at 4 PM from QLM and reached Pune next day morning at 4 AM.
thanks for your reply. is there any accomodation at CLR or QLM? what do you suggest; hike from CLR to DDS or from QLM to DDS. Also during ur hike, any passenger trains stopped at DDS station or more importantly DWF (dudhsagar waterfall point). we plan to make it a 2D/1N leisure program. Arrive around noon at CLR/QLM, explore local places. Next day, morning hike to DDS and take an afternoon passenger/ freight train towards Madgaon. Nothing is finalized as of now. Let me know your views.

Amaravati Express/18047 still leaving from howrah or its now leaving from Shalimar, I will travel by Amaravati Express/18047 on 14-07-14, so from where I will catch the train?Shalimar or Howrah?

can anyone who has travelled in this train tell whether decent food available onroute from vendors or not??as this train travels through route where not many big stations are there after vijayawada so getting food & water may be a problem..
Decent food is tough. But, vendors keep moving now and then.

Traveled by this train on last saturday from BZA to SCMN(DVD) by B1 coach.
TTE allotted berths after train arrived. Started at 3:15 am. At 5:30 am we are RJY. B1 is a new coach looks fine. After GT jerks, enjoyed the smooth ride of this train. It got BZA WAM.
Taken couples of loop lines as main line occupied after SLO. Reached DVD 5 min early at 8:02. Started from DVD on time...Later we stopped at SCMN bypass outer for some time...Finally reached PF3 (unofficial) of SCMN at 8:40 am. I got down there.
BZA-DVD in 4 hr 45 min with so much ease.

With 0 slack till VZM, it does well.

Yes other than YPR drnt.
All trains stops at SCMN for LP change. Except Duranto.
Don't know why Diverted trains only runs with "0" slack. Actually slack is based on zone/Div change also. But its planned in a great manner than VSKP skipping is beneficial.

Ne mokam...Slack anedhi zone, div change lo kuda pedathaaru. Best example GDR..almost all MAS trains have slack at GDR.

Last 2/3 occasions I travelled, Duronto also stopped at SCMN, Venkat.
Ya some times it may stops. Last month i also seen Duranto stopped at SCMN.
